Little Red Book

The dark clouds and storm has passed. The rays of the sun cutting through the clouds shines on my face and regenerate life back into me. I smile with happiness and treat life like a playground again, which I somehow forgot about it half way through the struggle.

Today, on Christmas day, I got my Little Red Book. A book that needed time, effort, and sacrifice to acquire. It may just be three simple terms, but only a Red Book holder will understand the extremity or extend of these words.

This is the best Christmas gift I've ever gotten. It's priceless. As i'm typing this, the little red book is standing proud in between the keyboard and monitor. It's a happy day for me, it really is.

What is this Little Red Book that I'm talking about?

This is my License Without Type Rating (LWTR) Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's License (AMEL) from Malaysia's Department Of Civil Aviation (DCA). Or in layman's term, this is my basic license. It really is just a hard-cover book, with two pieces of clear folder in it holding a piece of folded A4 paper. Nothing to hoo-haa about, however it is hard to be the owner of one.

It has the same blood-red colour of a passport and a blood donation booklet, together with the golden writings on it, only being slightly bigger in size. Holding a Red Book means you are an asset to the company, also a sign of achievement and professionalism to youself.

Holding the title of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer indeed sounds glamouros to the general public. To an AME, it is about being responsible and accountable to what we do. People pay huge amount of money to fly, not because fuel price is high, but because of the people taking care of their safety, the people who take responsibility of the passengers' life. Are you reliable enough to take up this title?

To be given a Red Book, a candidate has to go through a minimum of 3.5 years of technical training on aircraft maintenance. Then take multiple choice exam papers, essay exam papers, and an oral examination with an invigilator for every license. Currently, i'm a holder of two licenses being Airframe & Engine.

Malaysia's civil aviation industry is still small but growing. Back in the days after we had our independence, AMEs were from overseas. As time passes, the experts train locals to take up the job and they slowly left the country. Not many AMEs have born in Malaysia to date, because i'm only the 3163 rd AME since 1950s? That's 3163 engineers in 58 years, equivalent to 54 engineers per year. Minus of those who have demised, those who have retired, i guess there's only 1500 AMEs left?

The Malaysian AME License is valid for a period of two years only. After that, the holder himself has to renew his license, having proof that within the last two years, the holder has practice his privileges for a minimum accumulated time of six months. Or else, he is not considered fit to practice his title.

That's about it. From day one when i joined MAS as an average Joe, today at 4.5 years later I'm the holder of a Red Book. It's a sweet victory. I did it.

I might have given the wrong idea that I've graduated, but in fact I've not. I need approximately 4-6 months more whereby i'll specialise in my 1st aircraft, most probably being the Boeing 737-400.

To License Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAMEs) reading this, you might be laughing at me and recalling the times you were like me. I know the Red Book is just the starting of a new chapter and it brings alot of weight. It's a long way to go that only time and experience will tell. I hope I'll be like you one day - Highly looked upon and respected. Please guide me.

Red n Blue

Freedom! dropping that heavy weight off my shoulders never felt better. 25 June 2008 was the big exam that summarised my knowledge of 4 years in one day. In two months' time, we shall see whether i'll sob or cheer when the results are out. Fingers crossed!

Now that i've more time to spend on the net, i shall update this corroded and outdated kampungkai blog, give it some spring (chicken) cleaning and new readings.

Most of you would know of these two liveries on MAS aircrafts, do you? For those of us who have seen it with our own eyes in KLIA or overseas, would u agree with me that it's such a beauty? especially the one in blue, which is called by the name of HELICONIA (named after Heliconia leaves)

For those of you who have not seen these two liveries, i'm very sorry to say that the Red Hibiscus is G.O.N.E! boh liao! ELEK! MAMPUS! you'll never get to see it again in real life. As for the blue heliconia, time is clicking, and it's going off very soon. So i highly suggest that u try your luck in KLIA and look out for it.

WHY no more? that must be running in your head. Well, in aircraft engineering & maintenance's explanation, together with the finance department, my bosses have came to a conclusion that the extra and heavier paint required to paint the aircraft is contributing to a higher fuel consumption. Therefore, after doing a very good job by bringing Malaysia Airlines' name to the world for approximately 4 years, it's time to go. Sad indeed, but thanx to the soaring fuel hike, it had to go.

To share a little more technical knowledge with you, the Hibiscus was painted on two Boeing 747s and the Heliconia on one Boeing 777, each bearing the aircraft registeration of:

Hibiscus:
1) 9M-MPB (said as Niner Mike - Mike Papa Bravo)
2) 9M-MPD (Niner Mike - Mike Papa Delta)

Heliconia:
1) 9M-MRD (Niner Mike - Mike Romeo Delta)

So two red birds are already down and paint stripped, leaving one 'blue bird' (try saying in hokkien) flying in the sky.

New Zealand

It was year end, i had wanted to go for a holiday, but didnt know where to visit. Everywhere seemed packed, especially having air ticket to famous countries sold out.

And i ended up in New Zealand - the land of the long white clouds. It was a backpacking trip with my schoolmate (Yih Heng) and his younger sister (Christine). So the three of us set out to the island and searched for 10 days of great fun!

Having a Lonely Planet book was our mobile tourist info centre. Evertything is listed in this bible, from accomodation, food, transport, to history, tourist must see spots and recommended way of tour. It is a must for any backpackers!

We started off in Christchurch, South island and went one round. Followed by north island, moving up all the way to Auckland. One word to explain NZ? Beautiful. Transport was by rented car.

DAY 1 - Christchurch

This town is by the sea. Very famous for whale and dolphin watching. Too bad the tours were fully booked, therefore we only managed to see fur seals which was free entry, because they were laziing on the beach. Next trip, i'll definitely join the swimming with dolphin tour!

Hot spring. Very stinky because of the high sulphur content.

Caving at Waitomo Cave. Pictures in the cave have yet to arrive on my hands. We absailed 30m down the cave, sat on tire tubes and float down the cold pith-black stream, crawled here and there, saw glow worms (like fireflies), and rock climed back up 30m. Took about 4 hours to finish. Enjoyed it alot.

Day 9 - Auckland - biggest city in NZ

So that's about it. My 10 summer days in New Zealand from 14-24 December 2007. We really enjoyed it alot, and i highly recommend anyone who is reading this to visit NZ one day. It's a must see ok!?

The biggest drawback of our trip was that we didnt visit Milford Sound because of time constrain. It's the most beautiful and breath taking part of south island. Visiting Milford Sound is like u've completed NZ, to bad i've yet to complete NZ. But it's ok, i'm looking forward to visit NZ again one day!

A conversation on the phone went on between me and a friend working in Fireflyz.

me: Hello?
friend: Do u have yesterday's STAR newspaper?
me: Yea, i have it. My family subscribes it.
friend: Great, can u do me a favor? Can u pls check out Air Asia's advert? My boss told me to do something about it.

Since my friend is from the advertising department of Fireflyz, i guess Air Asia must had thrown a pebble on Fireflyz, and now Fireflyz is gonna counter attack by throwing a rock back.

Thus i went through the old newspaper, looking for the BIG-RED-PAGE. To my surprise, i saw this:

Size does matter

This is nothing new to me. In my opinion, Air Asia always try to stir anger in other airlines. Before fireflyz was born, they targeted MAS by saying that u only need 5 reasons to fly and not 25 reasons as stated by MAS. That's childish.

Well, these are marketing gimmicks to get the general public interest. Every company will sell the good side of themselves, even u and me. We don't talk about our nose picking stories, do we? So dont laugh at others when u yourself do it.

However the story isnt so in Air Asia. They laugh at others picking nose, and laugh as though they dont pick their nose. Have u forgotten how many times their aircraft went off the runway? how many times their tires burst? Now that's not a healthy competition.

The airasia aircraft looked like one obese aircraft, and the anonymous turboprop (short for turbo-propeller) aircraft looked malnutrition hahaha! And obviously airasia is targetting on fireflyz. Just look at the turboprop with a firefly look alike beside it. Who else would it be?

No doubt the Fokker 50 turboprop that fireflyz use cannot exceed a ceiling of 22,000 ft, compared to Air Asia's A320 at 36,000ft. And therefore the Fokker 50 has to fly below the clouds, as shown in the pics if u've noticed, not to forget with lightning, as though flying with fireflyz is a torture.

Why dont u think of the bright side? If u fly below the clouds, u get to see the plateau of the earth, streams, coastal, and cars which looks like ants. Unlike above the clouds which is so boring, feels like you're dead, in white heaven aleady.

So how often does it rain when u fly? cant remember? exactly! so why the scary lightning as if it's gonna strike your aircraft and become charcoal? Let me tell u something you dont know: all aircrafts are prone to lightning strikes, doesnt matter if its a MAS aircraft, Fireflyz aircraft, or Air Asia. It's easily discharged away from the approx 6 in long static wicks (metal sticks) which u see near the wing tips.
That's why u dont feel a thing even if it strikes.

What?! Beh Paiseh wan...

On Time
*cough... Wow, they've got guts to say this. hahaha!

Leather Seats
Even 1st class seats in 5 star airlines uses cloth material, so what are they trying to prove?

Extra Comfort
Oh c'mon... one can hardly tilt his hips to scratch his ass.

Extra Low Fares
Enough of the hidden charges, and not being available on weekends and public holidays. True flyers know how much the tickets cost.

High Frequency
Fair enough. i'll give a tick in this check-box. Give the petite fireflyz some time, it's still an infant, but it'll be incredible hulk one day.

Hola kawan-kawan! 6 months of idling, it was boring, it was lonely. Now that i'm back, i've got to search for my bloghood friends. I miss u guys, so much!

Im still breathing well here, but surviving on the edge, having the fact that the cost of living has sky-rocketed tremendously, if u've noticed. As everyone says: everything has gone up except our pay.

Having some extra pocket money from working during the Hari Raya weekend, i've decided to tick one of the check-boxes in my wish list. It's a necessity in life especially at my work place, and i've always wanted a good and reliable one that wouldnt fail me during emergencies.

I've gotten myself my 1st watch in my 23 years of life! It's a happy day for me, which is one of the reason i came back to blogging today to share my happiness.

Seiko 5 automatic

Well, i've bought many watches throughout the years, but none of them cost more than RM20. It's those pasar malam type where the traders place a cloth on the floor and display all their branded watches. I've gotten myself a Swatch Skin and a Gucci for RM10 each, unbelievable! Call me cheapskate or what, but when you are financially insecure, or in other words poor, you live with what you can afford.

It's kinda funny when i recall on those RM10 watches. They look unbelievably genuine, but once drop, there goes. Even while washing hands, next thing you know is that you're wearing a kid's watch which has water and a fish in its casing haha!

I also remembered that the RM10 Swatch Skin which i liked most had its battery run dry within 3 months from date of purchase. Since it was still working well, i decided to replace the battery. At the shop, i paid RM8 for the new battery, and i shook my head as i smiled. RM10 - RM8. The watch only cost RM2. #%#&@$*&%^ !!!

My 1st watch - Seiko 5 automatic

A watch tells most about a person. Seiko 5 automatic. This is the watch that i've been eyeing for years. It's the automatic that i'm looking for. I'm sure u've heard of it before, whereby it doesnt need a battery cell to power the watch movement. If you're an active person and like technical gadgets, this is the one.

'The 5 is proposed to reflect 5 essential features of the watch namely shockproof, waterproof, automatic, with day and date display' (quote wikipedia:seiko). I believe in companies which manufacture nothing but time pieces. Unlike other high-end brands where they venture from clothing into shoes, watches, sunglasses etc... and with their brand name on the it, the price tag goes ooh-la-la.

Glittering

Some people like white backgrounds for their watches, it gives a neat and tidy feeling. I personally like darker ones like black or dark blue, it gives a contrast to the metal casing and bracelet. Besides it looks cool and sophisticated. U've got to forgive me for self praising my watch hahaha! i cant stop staring at it.

The heart

Flip the casing over and you'll be amazed by the see through back cover. The internal gears and mechanism gives a feeling of high-tech. It's just so pretty. And while having the watch in your fingers, u'll tend to turn the watch left and right, up and down just to see the rotating rotor spin.

A full charge from the normal daily wear can last up to 40 hours. More than that, it will stop and u've got to rewind it. That's why it's an active person's watch as i said.

Heart removed

Paying a good price of RM199 for this baby (with 1 year warranty), i'm so satisfied. It's one price that i've never seen so low before. All this while the Seiko 5 automatic watches come with a tag of RM250-350. If you're interested to buy too, head to P.K Time, it's a franchise available in 1U, Alpha Angle, Sunway Pyramid, MValley, and Jusco Cheras Selatan. Their watches are even cheaper than City Chain. I guess it's because of the Mega Sales that started yesterday! yeay!

Oh man, it's really hard to write this post.

I decided to stop blogging from this very post onwards. Yea, this is the end of kampungkai's journey. I shall join the many 'hot hot chicken feet' bloggers from now onwards.

But by all means, all those dedicated bloggers out there, keep up the good work. Though missing from contributing, I'll be reading and supporting your entries.

Why it's the end?

REASON:
1. Till today, i've yet to find another blogger from MAS like me, who blogs about aircrafts and life. And lately i found out why, it's hard to find time in our industry, everyone is so dedicated to their profession, therefore no one would spend time doing something unnecessary, blogging.

2. I'm in my 3rd year now, going to 4th year in July. And i can sincerely tell u, workload & pressure is getting REALLY heavy, in both studies and hands-on experience. U wouldnt want an inexperience aircraft engineer to sign off your flight, would u?

3. I've a big ass exam this coming December 2007. An exam conducted by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), that evaluates my knowledge and proficiency in anything about aviation, including air law. It's either i pass, or... graduate in 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 years rather than 5.

4. What i'm studying is very different from any university's course. It's very technical. It takes so long to learn a skill, so much sweat, so much patience... and during weekends, i'd be lying on the sofa like a dead fish. That explains my inconsistency in blogging.

As a summary, NO TIME. Just this two simple words can describe why it is THE END of kampungkai.blogspot.com.

Well, I'm looking forward to pass out as an License Aircraft Engineer one day, and by then, i do hope i would be able to enjoy my achievement with u all. The 3 golden bars on the shoulder with the white shirt is such a pride to me.

Am waiting for the day when i'd say 'I DID IT'

With golden bars on the shoulder, it's not the end, but the beginning of stings of responsibilies put on my shoulder. A trust that all of u rely on without telling me, assumed that everything is taken cared of while flying.

Do remember me, do remember us, the aicraft engineers. And for the gazillion time i'm saying this - Dont only remember Pilots? Who are the ones working behind the curtains? we are. We are the ones who get our hands dirty, making sure u fly happily and safely. So whenever u step in KLIA, think kampungkai, think me.

And pls do not complain to me about inflight food, expensive tickets, flight delays and cancellation, cabin crews, unservicable remote control... the list goes on? Nothing is more important than safety, all those mentioned above are just add-ons. My job is in the engineering dept, making sure the engine continues to spin in air, nothing more than that.

To my Sifu - Jason/my ex-roommate/supper-mate/playmate?, who introduced what blogging is all about 2+ years ago, I'm grateful to have you as my guide. U've helped alot and u r a great writer, really. Counter-terrorist win

I've been rejecting friends' invitation for yamcha session nowadays, trying my very best to spend more time on books, as i have a really big exam this december, which determines whether i can be an aircraft engineer or not. Better start early than late?

Nevertheless 'all work and no play makes me a dull person' ei? And we all know that spending money can bring some joy huh? hahaha... girls will cheer up easily after an exhausting shopping day-out; guys will feel smarter & updated after a trip to PC-fair.

But how about me? what can the only RM50 note in a poor apprentice's wallet do for him? i found the best stress relief with RM50 today. A day i had so much fun, a day i wish to have again, a day i will not forget.

Counter Strike

I brought the multi-player game that all guys know about into real life - COUNTER STRIKE - where the last man standing is the champion. It was a total duplicate of the computer game, using real bullets, using real guns, minus off injured and dead civilians ok?

It looks as scary as it sounds. Real guns, real bullets, no kidding. But if safety precautions were followed strictly, it would be a safe and enjoyable thrill. See, even i'm still alive hahaha!

I got to know about this shooting club in MAS. Having the same curiousity that all of you have, i decided to give it a shot. RM50, abit expensive for a student, but to experience shooting a real gun from your own hands? Priceless.

Shooting Range

After listening attentively for half an hour to the introduction to shooting and the safety precautions, we set up the shooting target. Then, came the interesting part of essambling 4 seperate black pieces into a single unit - a semi-auto pistol. Total coolness! fuh! (no pics on essambling as my sifu might think i'm not paying attention to him)

9mm bullets

RM50 allows u 50 shots of the 9mm bullets on a semi-auto pistol. The 9mm is the cheapest bullet of all and 9mm means the diameter of the bullet is 9mm. A semi-auto gun means u dont need to pull the little thing behind the gun everytime after each shot. Just press the trigger once after another, one by one will be shooting out. For extra info, fully-auto pistol is like machine gun, whereby u dun let go the trigger and it fires non stop (precision is low though).

Just like in the movies, when u finish up your bullets, u press a button, and the whole bullet cartridge falls off to the ground, then u pull up a new cartridge from the belt and slam it back up and start shooting, sounds familiar? It was something like that.

Magazine

This cartridge is called a magazine. I'm not sure if i got the spelling right, but it sounded like that when my sifu explained about the pistol anatomy. U can see the quantity indicator through the reflective gold color bullets. I have 10 bullets in this magazine.

Since it was our 1st time shooting, we tried out the close range stationary shooting. It was only 5m away. No wonder i felt like a champion cos my shots were mostly in the bull's eye. hahahah! Good way to attract me to continue this sport.

Yi Szean - the tomb raider

This is not solely a guys' game, even girls can have fun! Just look at my batchmate, she's having great fun. Paying full concentration on the target, holding her breath as she gradually pulls the trigger. PANGGGGGGGGGGGG! But nothing went through the board cos she missed it! hahahaha... but she improved tremendously later on, getting on target. Dun play play...

Ram - the macho

Then came Ram, my batchmate and also my housemate. Small size dude, but damn macho with the gun. Dah lah chinese-indian, stealing all my girls with his looks and brains, now wanna be even more macho. Sigh.... should have just shot him. End of story.

Put down your gun, hands in the air! NOW NOW NOW!

Enough of them, time for the main actor who never dies. PANG PANG PANG PANG... *blows off the smoking tube of the pistol. Macho or not? quick, put all 10 fingers in your mouth and start screaming as if i'm the korean singer Rain. Ok, not funny.

By the way, i use to have the thought of joining the royal airforce after SPM. I like commando trainings and shooting stuff, but somehow it didnt come true cos my parents want me to live longer. Thank God i didnt join, too many planes of the RMAF have crash.

Anonymous Sifu guiding me

Here u can see my sifu giving me some guidance on the preperation to shoot. His name is anonymous, as he trains our very own Malaysian SWAT team. It was my privilege and pleasure to be taught by him. He gives alot of compliments and encouraging words, which makes u wanna improve and show him what u got. It is just the starting of a new journey, i do hope to learn more from him.

My Mentor

This is my sifu at work in MAS, he is a LAE, he was the one who exposed us to shooting. He has taken part in competitions, whereby u run around shooting different targets, and u gotta kneel and bend and lie down to shoot. Fast and accurate. Some competitions are in houses, which allows u to go room to room, climb up the staircase, i'm sure u get what i mean? just like the SWATs.

It was a great experience. At the mean time, i'm considering taking it up as a sport, but then money factor is another problem. Perhaps i should take it for leisure as a monthly thing for now, and only take it seriously after i grad.

Spice Up Your Life

'Wah, I tell you, my friend damn keng, whenever he goes KFC with his gf, the both of them can finish up one bottle of chilli sauce man'

I think most of us have heard of such statement or something similiar to this before among our friends, or friends' friend? Hehehe... Truthfully, I USED TO BE one of those fellas who can finish a bottle per visit to KFC.

Why not anymore? Well, after thinking logically that chilli should be spicy, i was wondering how come I can finish 1 whole bottle without sweating or feeling spicy. Then came advices from friends that i should cut down because it is full of preservatives, colorings and flavoring.

Somehow, I dont really favour Tomato Sauce that are sold on the rack. They taste fake and abit 'geli'. I'm still a chilli sauce fanatic in my heart! haha! High 5 to all chilli sauce fans out there, yeay! *piak!

Cili Padi

This is something familiar huh? Something most of us fear of. Something that makes us miserable upon getting contact with the sensitive tongue. CILI PADI!

Same as most of you, this is the 1st time around I see a round chilli. Or have u seen before? According to my dad, this round chilli is even spicier than cili padi! yea rite... i dont believe.

Fyi, I didnt snap this pic in the market or any chilli farm. It was taken right here in my home! There were so much that i thought my mum got a place at our local pasar malam to sell chilli! hahahah!

Btw, my dad is from the agriculture industry. He's a research officer who used to work with MARDI. But now he's with a private company selling manure. And therefore, he always get free vege and fruits in bulk! hahaha love him so much! (am waiting for his next trip to the dragon fruit farm! yeay!)

So, what's in the basket of Chilli.

So, for city kids who have never seen how home-made chilli sauce is made. Here's a brief explanation on how the ever-so-yummy sauce is made.

Firstly, soak them an hour or two before u plan to move your potato ass from the couch. (Nowadays, all vegetation are very high in pesticides. They wouldnt look so nice and flawless if not for the pesticide spraying every single morning from the 1st flower it bears until it is harvested. Especially chilli and tomato.) Soak them long!

Secondly, when u've got the patience already. Use the knife and cut off the stalk/head.

WARNING: Do not contact your hands with any other part of your body, especially your eyes. Miserable crying may occur.

1. Chilli with garlic. Put to taste.
2. Chilli with ginger. Put to taste.
3. Blend them till it becomes chilli paste.
4. Reddish one is with garlic. Brownish red is with ginger. Mum says it wouldnt be tasty if both ginger and garlic were mixed together.

Next, add vinegar to the paste and mix thoroughly, depending on the taste and viscosity u want. Store them in whatever tupperware your family is fond of storing. ie: kaya bottle, peanut butter bottle, ayamas chilli bowl or taufufa bowl.

Finally, before serving, mix the chilli sauce with sugar and lime to taste. Guaranteed satisfaction! SYOK!

For this basket of chilli that me and my mum made, it gave us a shock. It was freaking spicy! i only tried a lil (2mm x 2mm), and within 5 seconds it was as though the King of Hell slashed my tongue with a samurai! and within 13 seconds, beads of sweat formed around my face! Now i believe my dad's word.

My poor mum, who took up my challenge when i said 'u try 1st, I'll try after u' had a miserable time. She took like half a tea spoon of it. Immediately, she grab hold of a green apple nearby and sink her teeth into them, followed by yells of 'aiyooooooooooooooooooooo so hot! so hot!' hahahhahaha

Nothing could help. Apple, warm water, chocolate... cant fight off the spiciness of our very own malaysian chilli. For all the trouble, just buy from the racks la hor? But i think once awhile, you gotta SPICE UP YOUR LIFE and live it to the fullest!

The Kingdom Deep Down

*Smack, i'm not talking about hell! I'm talking about the beautiful mermaid world deep down under the sea surface, where another community speaks with bubbles......

Compared to Malaysian water, the Andaman Sea has a broader variety of underwater life, i'd say. There were many '1st time seeing' for me, and it was a great experience viewing such splendid creatures. They had this charm that made me float weightlessly and enjoy every bit of their gracefulness. Beautiful.

So, i hope u would enjoy it as much as i did. Simulate the surrounding of u under the water, where it is quiet and pale, and the only sound u hear is your own breathing. But, with the companion of the fish, solitude will not surface.

Nudibranch - a type of sea slug, very colorful and attractive.

Goby- very cute fella (fish), likes to hide in holes and pop its head out. "Say Hello!"

4 stripe snapper - as its name implies, 4 horizontal yellow stripes marks its body.

Macro pic - 1, 2, 3, 4...... 4 stripes!

Garden Eel - very eerie feeling when i 1st saw it. There were like thousands of them jutting out from the seabed, and vanishing into the sand as u go near. Eeee... Oh, and u see the two black spots on its body? My Dive Master said that if u see 3 black spots, it's your lucky day. And if u see 4 black spots, u'll win Toto hahaha!

Blue-spot stingray - lying on the sand. Wouldnt have noticed it if not for the blue spots. This aint the one that got Steve Irwin killed.

Lobster - Catch! Barbecue! Eat! hahahha...

Trumpet Fish - this is the yellow version (the other greyish). I guess because it's long and straight that it deserves its name? I like its golden yellow very much.

Angel Fish - Look carefully! it has eyebrows, how cute is that?! haha...

Indian Lionfish - very beautiful fish, but u dont wanna aggitate it. Keep a distance and it will pose gracefully for your postcard pics.

Rockfish/Scorpion Fish - I dont see any fish, do you? Damn, i nearly touched it ya know? i was floating very near a rock while snapping pics of other fish, and when i turned it was right in front of me! It's famous for staying still for a super-long duration, in addition with its super-power camouflage outlook, it's definitely gonna get a big fat meal. Patience is a virtue.

Clown Fish - Nemo!!! u r back! alohaaaa....

Peacock Grouper - Oh very nice fish on the dish, believe me! it already rhymes 'fish on the dish', what else?

Sea snake - no comment. Dont like it. Avoided it maximus. Btw, this is called poor visibility, can only see upto 4-5m. But for other pics, most of the time visibility was about 20-25m. Very clear.

Octopus - Wouldnt notice it if not for the other pro-diver's hawk eyes. It looks like a rock! Ugly looking, very very ugly.

Octopus - Night dive. A different species, but still has the same ugly face. Makes me think twice when i stand at the sashimi counter next time. Maybe not.

Moray Eel - the biggest eel ever. A common sight in Asian waters. It can grow up to 3-4m long, and it has a history of biting off thumbs if u wave your hands to it hahaha! looks like a hotdog i guess?

Moray Eel - macro shot. Damn he's angry! back off man....back off.

Honeycomb Moray - very beautiful species. Just a baby still.

Common Moray - babies. Cute when young, not when elder.

Puffer fish - looks unique to me

Parrot Fish - oh easy one! even a kid can guess. It does have the looks of a parrot, but too bad for the voice part. It only produces big and small bubbles, can anyone decipher what it means and uncover their underwater talent?

Dark clouds coming. As i was moving forward, suddenly it became darker, as if there was something really big blocking off the sunrays. I rolled 180 degrees, chest facing up, and saw this. A school of fish coming in. In Millions! Notice the two shades of color? just like dark clouds...

Right in the middle of the school of fish. Luckily the fish know how to avoid banging into divers. It was amazing, everywhere was filled with fish. Up Down Left Right Front Back. It went on and on for around 5 mins, some swimming left, some right..... then came the big predators. Suddenly the whole sea becomes empty! seriously empty! bout 3 seconds later, u'll see BIG tuna fish come chasing after the small fish. Was a real memorable scene.

Check that out! They have a mini golf course underwater man! dun play play, nemo plays 18 holes.

My personal favourite. Was just moving around and spotted this angle, got the camera and snapped, turned out as i wanted it to be.

Group photo underwater while doing safety-stop. Safety stop is a 3 mins stop at 5m below water surface to let our body pressure equalize. Not doing so will cause the excessive nitrogen that we breathe in to go into our veins and joints as bubbles, causing serious pain.

oh my ladyman.... doesnt 'she' look pretty? mmm mmm..... oh didnt i tell u we brought the mermaid back up to land for a night? no worries, she can survive on land for 24 hours. (we left her in the bath tub wahahah!)

hahhahahaha...... now that's what i call mermaid! look at those boobies man! perky pointy firm, whatever words u can think of. But it's freaking FAKE man!where got so round wan! and look at the face..... 'Dude, try again la....'

Look at (my Dive Master) Makoto-san's face! Freaking freaked out man! hahahhahhaha! he thought he saw a kawaii ghost! Hey hey, dont mix the white girl as a 'he' ok? She's genuine, never went through renovation. very pretty girl :) "Kazia, we miss you!"

Now this is what u get to enjoy in Patong Beach, Phuket. Plenty, abundant, too much till u r immuned to it. To all bachelors out there, this is heaven. To girl friends out there, dun worry la, your boy friend will stay loyal. Main buntut only maaa hahahhahah!

Similan Island SCUBA Divers

Eve of 'Chap Goh Meh' - 14th day of Chinese New Year. What have u been doing for the pass 14 days? Non-stop 'mahjong' session till 5am, and continue with dimsum breakfast, whereby the winner pays the bill? haha...

Whatever you did during CNY, whether it was boring or fun, no worries! cos visiting kampungkai's blog is always refreshing ya? high 5! *piak...

This year, i celebrated my CNY differently. Many friends of mine failed to look for me, because i was having a holiday in Thailand - Scuba Diving!

Andaman Sea

Similan Island is located in the Andaman Sea, which is positioned to the west coast of thailand, somewhere near Phuket. If you a directional inability idiot (of course you're not!), i'll just make it easier for u. It's further up north of Pulau Langkawi, easy enough?

Besides diving in the Similan Islands, we dived in Koh Bon & Koh Tachi too. (it's all around the latitude of 8 & 9 degrees)

Similan Island

Similan Island has 9 small islands in total. Each being seperated by a 10-15 minutes or so boat ride.

Since it is a Live On Board/Live Abroad diving trip, we slept, we ate, we bathed, and we shat (past-tense of SHIT fyi) on the boat. Ya ya, i know what's running through your mind now. You're thinking bout me seeing shit floating on water rite? hahhaaha i'll talk bout that later.

Parinee

This is the boat that the 12 of us were on. Named after the daughter of the diving company boss. She has a sister boat, a bigger one, named Daranee that fits 18 divers.

Arrived in HKT (Phuket) around 8pm from KUL, of course with Malaysia Airlines hehehe! Then left straight to the jetty and got on-board Parinee, which lead me into my room. Tadaa!

Approximately at 2200 hrs, a one-foot long firecracker blasted by the side of the boat, followed by two loud honks from the cockpit. Let me simulate the sound for you. It went something like this: PLAK PLAK PLAK PLAK PLAK! BON! BON!

From the very moment i stepped on Parinee, it was swaying left and right, up and down. And i have to admit, i didnt feel that well that night, feeling nausea that i went to bed early. I have no seasick problem though, but i suspect it was because of the heavy dinner with TOMYAMKUNG i had 30 mins before getting on board. So my advice is, eat less before getting on!

A tonnne of beer

Man, that's alot of beer and pepsi, don't you think? There's 6 cartons on every layer. And the local SINGHA beer is freaking cheap and delicious! unlike carlsberg. SINGHA cost only 20 baht (RM2) per can, and Pepsi is 15 baht (RM1.50)

Toilet

Here you go, your favourite part - the toilet and the floating tressure on sea. This is called a marine toilet. In a marine toilet, you are not allowed to flush down toilet paper, because it goes directly into the sea.

Yea, and so it has become an unwritten common agreement between all divers TO NOT SHIT when it is near diving time hahahha! you get what I mean? or else we'll be seeing new species of sea cucumber everyday! hahaha!

Water is limited on board. Therefore care must be taken to not waste fresh water, especially during showers. Or else everyone would have to suffer.

This is how I started my 1st day of diving in Similan Island, it was a great welcome! too bad for the boat positioning that the ball of sun was obscured by the island. But it turned out perfect ya?

Let me explain a lil on this fishing thing. It is illegal for fisherman to come to Similan Island or any nearby islands protected under the National Marine Park to fish. However it is legally unwritten that fishing using a fishing line for own consumption is allowable. It's like, how much can u catch using a line compared to using nets?

A330-300 EGR - Engine Ground Run

Days have been busy for me lately, and will continue to be busy till God knows when. Am currently down in the hangar production line, working my way up to be a good apprentice. Urgh, there's just so much to learn, but am liking it.

There're plenty of shoft forms in the aviation world, and EGR stands for Engine Ground Run. From the name, we can understand that it is a test for the engine while on ground. Just a simple explanation, details and pics will come later.

I've been working on the Aisbus 330-300 with the registeration of 9M-MKF for the past few days on night shift. I have to say night shift is something different from usual, and it's pretty interesting.

Why is it interesting? well when everyone is sleeping, u r wide awake, holding a spannar in your hands working under the high-mast spot lights, in addition with a mag-lite in between your lips, enjoying (but sometimes not) the cold breeze under the moon.

And also, as apprentices, we'll be given more work and more responsibilities because of the lack of manpower during night shift, and that's when u get to learn and feel the real thing. Of course, after finishing a job, u feel satisfied and valued for being able to contribute to the maintenance of the aircraft. It's great!

0303 hrs. Engine #1 - a greater vortex (means running at higher speed)

0310-0340 hrs. ZzzzZZzzzzz......boring + loud + VERY LOUD

So what is EGR all about? It's where the LAEs check the functionality and serviceability of the engine. Engine VIB (vibration) is a main concern.

LAEs will push the throttle to max with the brakes ON (1 engine at full throttle only, the other at a lower level, or else the brakes cant take it), check for N1, N2, VIB, FF (fuel flow), EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature).... for a certain time.

The whole plane would be shaking as if there was a 6 magnitude earthquake, especially in the cockpit. U will be bouncing up and down, left and right on your seat. Imagine OSIM's i-gallop? yea... add that with left and right and you'll dance hip-hop!

0400hrs. EGR FAIL. Found high VIB in Engine #1. Did some servicing and went for another round of EGR! BORINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

0430hrs. EGR successful. LAEs exit cockpit through secret hole.

0435hrs. Finally, boring hours finish.

0500hrs. Refuelling to 10300kg.

0500-0530hrs. Boring... very boring... superbly boring! ZZzzz...

0600hrs. I need an ice-cold beer to reward myself for the night.

Working can be boring when you do the same thing repeatedly, do u agree with me? Nothing could be better than having a break during lunch time, checking out the girls around the cafeteria while satisfying your growling tummy.

But then again, repeatedly seeing the same old people eating in the same old environment can be dead boring. Dead boring till u can memorize what certain people will eat through your weeks of continuous observation.

Le Tour De Kajang

Having changed a brand new set of front and back all-terrain tyres 2 weeks ago, I only got the chance to try out the comfy ride on my old-metal-horse (bicycle) yesterday.

Full with enthusiasm, and thinking that the RM76 tyres would contribute to a great ride, i woke up surprisingly early at 0730 on a Saturday morning. Why? cos i wanted to go cycling before the sun becomes scorching hot!

Dressed in sports attire, clipped the water tumbler onto the bike, i decided to bring along my IC and RM10. Just in case, u know *shrugs

The auto-gate closed as I rolled out of the car porch. Tuning into the intermediate gear for an easy and slow start, I planned the route to be taken. It's gonna be a long and tiring ride, i thought, but heck, it's better than keeping those calories on the bed! So, burn them!

1st turning out from my housing estate on to the main road, and i saw another cyclist some 50m ahead of me. An Indon worker riding on an old bike, u'll know it's old when u see it.

May the journey begin! 'Tuck! Tuck! Tuck!' I changed my gears into highest gear and sped up, intending to overtake the cyclist in front and zoom pass him like a superbike overtaking a '90cc honda kap-zhai'.

Unfortunately, sadly, dissapointingly, angrily, frustratedly.... bout 5m before i could even reach him..... 'CHIBABOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.....TING TING TING TING TING!' My wheels felt as though it wasnt round! it was square!

I jammed on the brakes after 5 times of TING TING TING TING TING. Got on my feet and turn my back to look at my rear wheel. It was a kcufing nail! ARGH!!!

My brain's CPU usage was at 100%, thinking alot of things like: wth! got so suey meh! it's a brand new tyre! and it's not cheap! it's only 150m from home man! what to do next? push back to home? or bicycle shop? did i bring money to tampal/change tube? luckily brought RM10. but it's only 740am! sial....

New tyres.... but FLAT!

I pulled out the nail, and i was really shocked! This is the 1st time in my life seeing such a big nail puncturing my tyre. On previous ocassions, it was either a tumb-tack or a small nail. But this! it was kcufing 2 inch long man!

I'm sure the 5 rounds of TINGS scratched the inner part of my rims and decreased the durability of my tyre. It's just my luck. Sigh...

My Beautiful Map

Look, just look at my beautiful map, the route i planned to cycle through. It passes Kajang Hospital, Tasik Kenyir, KLCC, KLIA, and Teluk Intan before heading home. Cool huh? But the red line was the only distance i covered. What to do, Itik menyudu.

A friend of mine suggested: I think u should go temple and bai-bai (pray), last week aircraft emergency landing problem, now bicycle puncture, quite suey lo.

hahaha! should i be supersticiuos? Let's just hope for better days to come.

Last Friday was CLEO magazine's 11th anniversary. A very kind and pretty bachelorette friend of mine (Ying Mei), knowing that i'm a bachelor, dragged me along to 'cuci-mata', saying that lots of hot girls would storm the venue.

Words were true. However, I felt intimidated! Being the minority of 10% males, and holding a PINK COLOR invitation card, there were plenty of white blinking things staring at us (the minority) as the sky turned dark.

I spent RM5.60 on CLEO magz, for the sake of getting the invitation card glued to the cover page. Which, i then gave it to my mum as a bed-time story book. RM5.60 for a night of beauties? Well worth.

The CLEO Goodie Bag

The moment i got hold of the bag, i thought i was back in the gym, getting a 22 lbs dumbell from the rack to my workout bench. It was freaking heavy for i did not expect it to be sucha baby elephant.

It was filled with 6 cans of 325ml aluminum tins, and two boxes of 1L juice! All packed into a paperbag which usually weighs less than 100grms when u go shopping with a girl. Correct me if i'm wrong :P

9M-MRI in Stockholm

The tension has loosen up.

No one was hurt, no one was put to jail, nothing went wrong.

It seems it was the manufacturer's problem, whereby the same thing happened before.

What happened was something from the thrust-reverser flew off. Wasnt a critical part, therefore it was alright.

Hopefully the manufacturer will do something about it asap, so that such incident would not happen again.

Damage has been done, and MAS' reputation has a scar. Yet, we Malaysians should show support by promoting 'Visit Malaysia Year 2007' and begin our visitors' comfy-journey with Malaysia Airlines!

How shold i express my feelings now. Worried? Afraid? i dunno.. it's weird.

This is what happened...
During Raya week, i was the one of the apprentice assisting on the engines of a Boeing 777-200, under the supervision of a LAE (Licensed Aircraft Engineer).

And from the article shown, it matches what we did when the B772 was in the hangar for heavy maintenance. It passed with flying colors on last sunday's (29th Oct 06) EGR - Engine Ground Run and test flight and was back to full service the very next day (Monday).

Now, i'm keeping my fingers crossed. MAS has 17 Boeing 777-200s, and i'm not sure which 1 of the 17 is involved in the emergency landing. The one we were working on came with the registeration number of 9M-MRI.

It shouldnt be MRI, because MRI just went through heavy maintenance a week ago. The whole plane was overhauled to its tip-top condition, as if it was brand new. Parts were replaced according to flying hours even though still useable, methods of servicing were followed strictly according to manuals. There wasnt a word called COMPROMISE in our dictionary.

Sometimes, mishaps happen. Even though perfectly done by human, mother nature could cause problems to it. Who knows, a metal piece from a bird's beak fell off and got ingested into the engine? or... who knows whether the metal pieces were from another plane. U never know.

As of now, let's just wait for the investigation report from Sweden's aviation authorities.

9M-MRI (cn 28416/155) About 10 seconds after liftoff from runway 19R something happens with the left engine. Alot of smoke and fragments of metal and other material falls down on the runway. At first the pilots don't get any indications in the cocpkit and plan to go on to Kuala Lumpur. Then we decide to call Arlanda duty offocer to make sure that they have noticed the pieces from the engine on the runway. Shortly after that the pilots requests fueldump and return to ARN safely. [Nikon D70, Nikkor 80-200 f2.8]

Workload vs Manpower

As u are reading this on your comfy cushioned chair, in your cosy home; I, in contrast, would be working, in the hot-like-hell hangar.

Since Malaysia is a multi-racial company, it's our turn (chinese) to work our asses out this week. Selamat Hari Raya to my Malay colleagues, and Happy Deepavali to my Indian colleagues!

This Deepa-Raya week, i'm gonna work from Monday till Friday, and then continue with Saturday & Sunday (depends on speed of job during weekdays).

Work hours? 0745hrs - 1645hrs. But most probably every day must do OT. Latest OT is up till 0400hrs (4am!)

Well, this is the service industry's life. When people go for holidays, our work load increases x1000, and manpower /1000. Aeroplane maintenance due date must be followed strictly, else would cause lots of trouble and loss of money in millions.

Am not complaining though, this is what i chose, so i'm liking it. Furthermore, i'm paid differently this week man! time to get some extra pocket money! hahaha!

RM10,000 Toilet Bowl

Believe my words, it really is RM10,000. I dunno why it is so expensive, but an easy explanation to u is, "it's an aircraft component, everything is expensive".

Being an Aircraft Engineer doesnt mean wearing white uniform with epaulettes (the goldern bars on the shoulder), and walking around slowly and smartly in the airport.

As the name implies, the engineer knows everything about the aeroplane from A-Z. Having that said, the 'shit job' is part of our job.

Lavatory

The lavatory can be categorized as one of the highest quality requirement in the aircraft. Meaning, though it's such a small and simple thing, but when it is not functioning, the passengers will screw the airline high & low. ie: 'wahlauu... i pay few thousand ringgit and they cant even get the toilet fixed!?' u get what i mean?

Toilet bowl

This is the RM10k toilet bowl. Made from stainless steel and coated with Teflon on the inner surface, it is exactly like the non-stick pan we used in the kitchen. So, your urine and shit doesnt stick to the wall of the bowl.

Toilet assembly

this whole unit cost +-RM100,000. It's pretty high tech in the sense that there's a build-in computer with a memory for each toilet bowl. it records the number of flushes and records the fault of the toilet bowl, for instance Leakages.

Toilet assembly

whenever u push the flush button, an electric signal will be sent to the flush system, and also to the vacuum system at the same time. If u notice the amount of water used per flush, it's very little. It's only 4.6 ounces, which comes to about 1/4 of a milk glass.

Flush Control Unit (FCU)

this FCU is connected to cockpit, whereby the pilot can identify whether the toilet is functioning or not. Regardless to say, it's the most expensive part of a toilet. say, RM40,000?

Bowlsssssssss

today was my last day working with the sanitary department, have gained my valuable experience and so i'm sharing some behind the scene shots with u. Be prepared for the worst. WARNING: STOP EATING IF U ARE READING THIS

Lau Sai

Once in a blue moon, if the cleaners forgotten to clean it before sending to us for repair, this is what we get. A bowl of shit that has been kept there for a few days, or maybe a week. If u r not a hardy-type of fella, u would puke on the spot.

Normally we gotta disinfect and soak the bowl with a super strong detergent (the turqoise liquid), and every time after work with surgery rubber gloves, we gotta clean our hands with dettol, or else i'll be eating u ppl's shit!

Once in a purple moon, there'll be a piece or two of toilet paper in the bowl when sent to us for servicing. It looks nice on 1 side... till

till.... u flip over and see shit all over it. Again, u will puke on the spot. Notice around the upper ring of the bowl, full of harden urine flakes, gross! but it's part of the job.

So, whoever thought aircraft engineers job is cool, think twice. It doesnt seem as nice as it is. Though quite highly paid, but this is what u need to do.

I love toilet bowls!

We are so used to seeing and touching toilet bowls that it's nothing much to us, we would dare put our head inside the bowl to do inspections and servicing, we would come in close proximity with the bowl, and we would smell a slightly diff smell everytime.

By the way, did u know your urine is very corrosive? look at this pic, this is the front part of the inner bowl where our urine normally shoots at. This means the bowl has to be sent for recoating of Teflon.

From the toilet bowl to the 'holding tank'

Lastly, for the ladies. Can u gals do me a BIGGGGGGGGGG favor? Please promise me u will not throw the sanitary pads into the toilet bowls? PLEASE? I BEG U?

The pads are gonna stuck the vacuum system and cause alot or trouble. And in the end, the engineer would be the 1 taking it out u know? not the cleaners, because they dunno why it is stuck.

Emergency Slide-Raft

ahhh beautiful day, Maroon 5's Sunday Morning playing in the background as i start my new entry of the week.

Ever thought how it would feel like being in a fire-drill on an aeroplane? Emergency doors deployed, cabin crews screamin/directing at the top of their voice, babies' crying..... everything in CHAOS.

Since an aeroplane is nothing less than 1 storey high from ground, u would fall to death, or break your bones if u were to jump off. That's where the inflatable emergency slides come to use.

Of course we wouldnt hope for one to be deployed. It would be so much better to walk slowly and gracefully off the main door and into the aerobridge, rather than sliding down and running on the tarmac to be greeted by firemen or SWAT team.

Reservoirs

The slide-raft on every exit door is inflated with compressed gas. And these tanks shown here are used to store the gas. It is made of aluminum allow and wrapped with carbon fibre/fibre glass. It has a life span of 15 years and is colored orange(old) or white with orange band(new).

But why is it called slide-raft? because, it can be used both as a slide and a raft. But not all aeroplanes are fitted with slide-rafts, smaller planes are normally equipped with slide only, because they seldom travel over oceans.

Hydrostatic Test

Every 3 years, these tanks would be removed from the aeroplane to be inspected, discharged, service, and recharged. As usual, aroplane parts are always related to safety, therefore frequent checks need to be done to make sure of its servicability, even though it is in good condition.

After the tanks have been discharged, they will undergo a Hydrostatic Test(HT), whereby the reservoir is pressurized with extremely high pressure in a water jacket to check the expansion of the reservoir. If the expansion is within limit, good. But if the expansion is out of limit, scrap the bottle.

After HT, the bottles are dried with warm air. Then, it is recharged in a cage, as shown in the above pic.

Charging weight

Nitrogen(N2) & Carbon dioxide(CO2) are charged into the bottle with a specific ratio, depending on aeroplane model. As for the high-tech Boeing 777, they even include Helium into the bottle, i dunno why.

So, charging quantity is determined by the weight of the bottle rather than volume/pressure (temperature varies volume & pressure, so it would be inaccurate). Let's say we charge the bottle with CO2 first, so once the digital weighing machine reads the required weight, then we'll continue with N2 charging until the needle on the gauge reaches the green band.

It would take approximately 90-120 minutes just to charge 1 bottle. But when deploying the whole slide-raft, it only takes 6 seconds to discharge.

Slide-raft

This is where the slide-rafts are being tested and check for leakages and servicability. It is humongous. Can be 10-15m long & 4-5m wide. Inflated with so much air to make sure it floats on water.

Test area

This is how the slide looks when it is deflated, just like a baloon. As it is packed into the door assembly, it is nicely folded in a proper manner, just like folding a parachute. Or else, it wouldnt deploy nicely or it might get stuck.

There are 12 doors on a Boeing 747-400, which also means 12 slide-rafts. All these slide-rafts are inflated using 2 reservoirs + ambient air within 6 seconds.

A door full with technology

See the buldge at the bottom of the door? that's where the slide-raft & reservoir is stored. Looks neat, but it can be a life-saver.

By the way, only cabin crews get to simulate jumping off on the slide-raft. I've never tried jumping off the plane on a slide, and there wont be a chance unless if it is a real-case-scenario. It would be too time-consuming and troublesome and expensive to run a fire-drill.

Well, it aint that hard after all, just pull the trigger on the door and u can slide off hahahah! but i wouldnt teach u how, for SAFETY PURPOSES!

Zombie

U struggle to keep that steel-heavy eye lid from closing, yet u cant resist. U cant resist the temptation of closing the eyes and cuddle your head into the arms. It just feels soooooooooo good, isn't it?

It's even harder than lifting 150 pounds on the bench press in gym. U just wanna have a 15 second rest, u know u'll take more than that, but it doesn't matter cos it feels damn good. Damn good to close the eyes and nap.

As all College/University/Institutes students know, some lecturers are eligible to take part in INDIA's snake-charmer competition. They have the qualification, they have the knowledge, they have the experience, they are real good. Superb! Don't u think so?

Landing Gear - Leg Of An Aircraft

Aircrafts are built to fly, not to roll on the tarmac. But it has to roll on the runway in order to gain speed and lift off into the sky. Besides, something's gotta support the whopping 100+ tonne giant while u step into it.

It wouldnt be something like the U.F.O where the aircraft floats 1ft above ground, would it? NO. u r right. It's the landing gear, the wheels, the legs that support the weight of the aircraft while on ground.

Boeing 777 (How to identify? Cos it has 6 wheels on the main l/gear)

Tyre pressure is crucial. Before each flight (or few hours after a flight when the wheels have cool down), an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer MUST do a pre-flight inspection, whereby checking the tyre pressure is part of the pre-flight inspection list.

Depending on aircraft models, some aircrafts tyres are inflated to 180 pounds/square inch, some 192psi, some 200 psi, and some 210psi. It varies with each model and load. And it is important to only check the pressure when the wheels are cool, or else u'll get a wrong reading. Wrong reading might cause an under-inflated tyre when the aircraft lands in a cold climate airport. (cold=shrink)

INFLATE TYRES WITH NITROGEN ONLY

All commercial airliner tyres are inflated with nitrogen. Why? Well, they dun burn easily, they are light, they are easily available, and they can cope with heat better. (Correct me if i'm wrong on this, cos i'm not a Chemist. And if u're 1, pls tell me more about it, pls?)

Just for simple knowledge, I noticed that most MAS aircraft uses MICHELIN tyres. Have yet to see any Goodyear or Bridgestone or Goodrich.

A330 l/gear

That's the main strut supporting most of the weight. It's made of VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY HARD and STIFF MAGNESIUM ALLOY. Powered by high pressure hydraulics, the l/gear is deployed and retracted by a push on the button.

Notice that red band hanging from the strut? There's a pin at the end of the band, whereby it is slotted into the l/gear locking socket to prevent the l/gear from being retracted while on ground. Simple terms: It locks the wheels.

I'm 5' 10"

The previous pic makes the l/gear looks small. Now i'm standing beside the A330 wheels for u to compare. It's huge. Slowly check out how complicated it is.

Since the l/gear is such an important part of an aircraft, it has to be maintained to its approved design standards. And maintainance includes overhaul. Overhaul means the whole thing is removed from the aircraft, paint stripped, X-rayed to check for cracks, serviced, repainted and re-installed.

Aircraft on Jacks

Notice the 3-legged jacks supporting the aircraft. And the wheels have been removed from the bearings for overhaul.

Disc Brakes

Ventilated Multi-Disc Brakes of a Boeing 737. 6 pistons actuated by electro-hydraulics to compress the disc and brake linings. During landing, these disc turn molten red while braking, producing a tremendous heat that can fry an ostrich egg within 1 second.

Nose l/gear

KW - Kilo Whiskey. It is a short form for the registeration of this aircraft 9M-MKW. Much smaller than the main l/gears, it has a red band too to lock the wheels.

Tow truck

U know what? This is the only vehicle in the world where the driver is lower than the wheels! hahaha... pretty cool ya? this is considered a big tow truck used to push-back big aircrafts.

Interior

As simple as that. Forward gear, neutral, and reverse gear. Oh, and left hand driving. In order to drive this truck, u gotta get a driving license for airfield from Malaysia Airlines, and also from the Department of Civil Aviation, DCA.

As i said from the very beginning. The legs of the aircraft are very important to the aircraft. It's exactly the same like the human leg. And if u do not take care of it, this will happen and cause serious injury.

Subang Airport

It's been 2 weeks since i started the life i've been dreaming of. The sight of jumbo-jets and the sound of roaring RollsRoyce engines that could be heard clearly through 3 doors is the dream i'm talking about.

Whoever says that F1 engines are loud and powerful is correct. But wait till u have the chance to hear for yourself aircraft turbine engines on ground run/test run, it will bring your heart beat to a whopping 150 bps.

Unless you want holes on your ear drum, use your first finger to cover up your ears! After covering up with fingers, then it will sound like a F1 engine. Even standing on a metal platform 300m away from the test cell makes no difference, it vibrates like a 2.0 magniture earthquake.

hahah alright, enough of my excitement on the engines. This is the place that i'm gonna finish my 2 more years course, Subang Airport.

Currently still undergoing induction week and industrial safety, whereby the instructors explains eevrything about MAS from A-Z, and also all the safety measures to be taken in case of an emergency. (and that includes jumping off the aircraft on the slide! fun!)

No more waking up at 11am. Now, it's called healthy lifestyle. It's become a routine to start the day at 7am and end at 12midnight. Classes are conducted from 830am-430pm mon-fri. But when i'm in the hangar working, it's slightly different. 745am-445pm.

Formal Attire

Everyday attire is formal. Short/Long sleeve shirt + tie + leather shoes. It shows professionalism i guess? One batch mate of mine (girl), said "i've found a new hobby for myself since stepping foot here. It's called LOOKING AT TIES"

hahaha! well she told me that because i was the winner of that very day. Flattered! :P

Classroom

This is my classroom. We change room everytime the subject changes. For your info, even though i'm considered as working, i still have a balance of classes/course to attend and on-job-training in the hangar. It's part of the course. But yea, practical is more important and courses are just knowledge that u must have before going to the floor and get our hands dirty.

The haze is here again, and Subang is badly afffected. Thank goodness i'm in a/c classroom 8 hours a day. For those engineers working under the shelter of the aircraft, i do hope MAS supply them with face mask soon.

Radome

This is the front part of the aircraft. It's called the radome, whereby it only transmit data in forward direction up in the sky. It's as simple as the picture shows, just a flat plate with electronic stuff.

It sends out radio signals to detect rain/storm, lightning, clouds, oncoming aircrafts, and flying pigs? hahaha.... nah, just joking for the last one.

This radome may look simple, but if u were to stand in front of it, and activate it. Believe me, u'll be MANDUL on the spot. Since it's such a dangerous thing, the manufacturer has make it impossible to activate the radar while on ground. So, no worries! just scaring u guys :P!

From this pic, the small 737 in the background is in the ground run cell, having its engine tested to maximum rpm. As i said, dun forget to close your ears. And inside the hangar, u see 2 hanging platforms from the ceiling, that's for servicing the tail section.

Last pic of the day, something u dun get to see often, and it doesnt interest anybody cos it's ugly. But no choice for me, this is wat i see most of the time. We have to strip the plane and do heavy maintenance for the sake of 1 word - SAFETY.

Mercedes Benz SLK 200K

Never in my 22 years of life, the thought of sitting in a sports car had ever crossed my mind. It seems something impossible. But, today is my lucky day.

Having hints from my buddy/the car owner since 24 hours ago that he would give me a surprise by fetching me to his house, i was feeling anxious.

While watching tv and waiting for his arrival, i heard tyres slowing down over some sand and pebbles in front of my gate. It should be him. So, i grabbed hold of the house keys and locked up the house.

While turning the key to lock the door, i turned my head towards the gate and STOP. I STOPPED TURNING THE KEY, I STOPPED BREATHING, AND I STOPPED BLINKING. My jaw dropped 5 foot to the ground. After a full 3 seconds, then i walked towards an illusion with a big smile, still unbelievable.

I might sound 'jakun'... but please forgive me, this is the 1st time in my life being in such close proximity with a SLK (not a Small Little Kancil ok?).

Friend: So, what do u think of the car? any comment?
Me: *speechless and continued smiling
Friend: Never expect to be able to sit in this car at the age of 22?
Me: *nods head vigorously
Friend: Me too!
Me: *still speechless

What next? Test drive! It's a sports car, expect the expected! This 1800cc supercharged kompressor engine drains every breath out of u as it zooms pass every single car. Though at high speed, yet u feel safe and secured.

Just like any other big cars, u wouldn't notice that you have already reached 110km/h, it feels like 60km/h and u feel slow in it, u would want more of it, and that's when the devil in u step on the accelerator as u fall back on the seat enjoying the thrust.

Speedometer.

I guess u know what we went through during the test drive. After checking from the Mercedes-Benz website, i got to know that the car accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8.5 secs, that explains why i had difficulty reaching for the compartment box as i was push backwards like taking off in an aircraft!

Dun be fooled by the 160 limit. It's just a number. The important part about a speedometer is its Unit. For this case, it's in mph! Nevertheless, with just a push of a button, u can easily switch it to kmh, whichever is convenient to u. *hint: we passed 140 :P

Kompressor

Till today, i am still wondering why it is spelled as Kompressor, and not Compressor? it sounds like B.Malaysia, or is it German? For those who dunno, kompressor boosts the engine output so that the 1800cc engine will operate like a 2000cc engine.

Center console

It's built for comfort that they can even heat up the seat and blow hot air around the neck upon request (even the temperature can be set), something very useful when the hood is down when enjoying the drive up Genting Highlands. Ops, did i say it's a convertible?

Transformation

Just 22 seconds is all it takes for the electrohydraulics to convert the SLK-Class from hard-top coupe to open-top roadster. Just press the button on the centre console or, if you are outside the car, use the button on the ignition key. TOTAL COOLNESS!

The Cockpit.

As u have your big ass sitted in the ever so comfortable body-wrapping bucket seats, u feel in control of the car. U feel the pride. U sense the stare and awww that all passer-by give. U create jealousy and u cause hatred. But what to do? LoL!

Notice the row of holes around the neck part of the seat? that's where hot air is emitted. The manufacturer calls it AIRSCARF. Also, look at how thick the door is, it's freaking 1 foot thick! not only it's built for speed, but also safety of passengers.

The heart of the SLK.

As u pull up the bonnet of the beast, a complicated and high technology awaits u. Besides... the 'pssssssssss' sound of the absorber supporting the heavy bonnet makes it even high-tech!

Not to forget, the twin exhaust pipe that is a killer! The back looks so solid and cool, dun u think so?

Well, last but not least, how can u finish reading without seeing me in a SLK roadster? wahhahahhahhah! Ever since i felt the touch of this angelic devil, i 've promised myself to own one someday in the future. It's good to have draems, isnt it?

Uniforms

Talk to any girl in town, which (guy) uniform they like the most, and they will answer u "Navy!" and some will even be more specific by saying "Thai Navy!" with the reason "Their dark skin look so good in that full white uniform! They look so solid!"

Sigh... these uniform guys are killing us man! They get all the girls' attention and leave us in the dark. Such a sad case. But what can we do? I guess we can only go with the girls by saying "yea lo, they look soooooo smart!" (with a knife through the heart)

Let's accept the fact: Girls just love guys in uniform, but they hate their work time. Am i right? (Navy go on sea for 3-6 months, Commercial Pilots fly odd hours any day of the week, and RMAF Pilots fly to hell with the HAWK aka Flying Coffin)

Me - Chen Yow Jong

Well, this is me, in uniform, but not MAS' uniform. MAS send us (trainees) to Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (MIAT), a private institute, for basic studies for 2 years. And this is what i wear to class everyday for the past 2 years.

When i finish my 5 years course and be established as a License Aircraft Engineer (LAE), then only i'll be issued with my License Booklet and uniform. Not to forget, 3 beautiful Golden Bars on the shoulders as a sign of success & accomplishment.

Dreaming of the day to come...
3 BARS = LAE
3.5 BARS = Lead Engineer
4 BARS = Foreman

However, the road to success is hard & painful. Not only u gotta get scolding by LAEs and mechanics (who are more experience, even though lower rank); but also wear the lowest rank uniform in the whole company.

It's so low that no one will even notice u when u walk by them, that's how low it is. But it's not the appearance that matters to be an engineer, it's the qualification that matters. We gotta be humble in work, learn from the experts. After 3 years, i'll be rewarded for all my hard work.

So what's this lowest rank uniform i'm talking about? Here it is.

Trainee Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (TAME) uniform

Dun laugh! Dun do that ewwww face! This is what i'll be wearing 5 days a week, for the next 3 years. 2 years in MIAT, i was wearing white uniform, from 3rd year onwards, i'm degraded to a blue uniform which looks like a cleaner.

On the left sleeve is MAS' logo. On the left pocket is where i put my very important ID which allows entry to the highly restricted hangar area. Above it is number '3' which means i'm a year 3 trainee. And on the right pocket is where i keep a ball-pen/fine marker pen (very useful) with a MAS batch above it.

Come to think of it, there's no point giving us white uniform to wear. We know nothing at this stage. All we know is what we learn from books, but we know nuts of the real aircraft.

Coconut with nothing but water inside.

So why wear such a prestigous uniform when u have a coconut shell head? "Be patient, your day will come, and u will shine!" That's what i told myself.

Furthermore, this 3 years will be the golden years for me to learn up everything. I'll have to learn up EVERYTHING before i be an engineer and start giving orders to other people. So, i'll be drenched with black oil and hydraulics, crawling inside the fuel tank, and cleaning up toilet bowls which are TERSUMBAT (thanx to inconsiderate passengers).

Each plane has 1 Lead Engineer, who controls around 7 LAEs. Why 7? 1 left wing, 1 right wing, 1 landing gear, 1 fuselage tail section, 1 fuselage middle section, 1 fuselage nose section, and 1 cockpit. And so, foreman (highest rank of engineer) controls the Lead Engineers.

Ear Muff

This is what we always use when we run the engine. Ear plugs are ok, but not protective enough to our delicate ear drums. Mind u, aircraft engines are louder than F1 engines.

This ear muff of mine is of lower category which cost RM20? The higher end ones which are foldable and have higher noise reduction can cost bout RM150 a pair.

I do hope that my grandchildren do not need to scream while talking to me in future. That would be embarassing them! Safety first.

Cute Crash-Test-Dummies

Remember I wrote a post bout the Flying Coffin? haha... i wasn't bluffing all this while. The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF)is sending all their well-trained fighter pilots down to hell. The Hawk fighter jet that went into the sea last week, is exactly the one i was talking about - Flying Coffin

Skyhawk a.k.a Flying Coffin

Anyway, last week was my final week of 2 years basic studies. So, we had a project and presentation to carry out. Topic is: PERSONAL AIR VEHICLE, whereby it basically means that the Proton car u r driving, is able to fly, as well as roll on the road. 2 in 1.

Red Eagle

Being super-duper procrastinators like most students in the world (hhahahha), we started doing the model some 16 hours before presentation. And walaaa, the RED EAGLE was created.

My verdict: very ugly! But for a 16 hour product, it's good enough! hahaha... the 2 wings can be slided into the cabin compartment to transform back into a car.

The interior

Since the exterior was kinda bad. One of my classmate build-up a very eye catching, beautiful interior. We were all amazed upon looking at it. There are LCDs on the dashboard, steering wheel, signal stick(behind the steering wheel), and even hand brake! Total POWER-ness!

Though i wasn't involve in the manufacturing of interior and exterior, but me and a few friends did contribute by building 2 crash test dummies! u gotta see them.. they are just so adorable.

Crash Test Dummies

So, what are these dummies for? They are used to demonstrate the advantages of using an airbag, and without an airbag. So 1 dummy's head would fly off during demonstration because of hard contact with the dashboard, and the other 1 would be safe. Gruesome...

Voodoo...

Materials used: chopstick as the body and hands, ping pong ball used as the head, masking tape for holding eevrything in place, and marker pen for the smiley face.

Angel and Devil

Presentation was good. The lecturer liked it, praised us high and low. Maybe cos we are leaving this school, so they are forced to say some good words? else they wouldn't be so kind, urgh.

Gone ...

There goes the 16 hours hard work. In just 1.6 seconds, we jumped on it and destroyed it to mark the end of our 2 years basic studies. Next thing to look forward to: 10th of July, Subang Airport. I'll be starting my practical from then on for the next 3 years till i qualify as an Licensed Aircraft Engineer and serve all of u with safe aircrafts. Wish me Luck.

Mickey Mouse Is Dead

I'm here to announce the demise of our favourite character - Mickey Mouse. As of 1100 hours, 4th of June 2006, both Mickey and Mickey Jr. rested in peace.

Now, i know that i'm not only a lizard buster, but also a rat buster!

There's this family of rats (2-3) living in the kitchen of my house for the past 2 months. They live above the ceiling, making lots of heavy footsteps as though playing wrestling. And quite often, u can hear the footsteps running from one end of the ceiling to the other end. Sickening.

Happy Doom's Day, Mickey.

During the night, they will come in through the kitchen window and search for food. Many times, i caught sight of them, but they were just too fast. They would just vanish in thin air.

Attempts were made to trap them. Bought a new mouse cage, took out some old mouse neck snapper, and some type of super sticky glue were applied on the cardboard to make them immobile upon stepping on it.

None worked out.

They were just too smart. Wasted my burnt salted fish that was used as bait.

It was just the unlucky day (Today) for them. I caught sight of the baby mouse, and it brought me to the family. Walaa!

The stove and its box.

All this while, i wondered how it could vanish in thin air even though it was a dead end. But after pulling out this box, i understood the whole thing. It was doom day for Mickey.

My hockey stick came to full use. My mum's food cover came to full use too. And for 10 minutes, the kitchen was in war. Pans and pots were flying up and down, tables and chairs fell... total chaos!

The Aftermath.

One down. It was Mickey Jr.

Some 11 hours later after having a good night rest. I had to help clean up the mess, and that's when i caught sight of Mickey Senior! "mummy, get out of the kichen, now. NOW NOW NOW!"

Upon reading my lips of pronouncing the word RAT, she stopped frying whatever it is, and scurried to the living room. She's safe.

Bang! Ping! Pong! Boom! Klang! Kling! Whack! Whack! SHIT! Kling! Klang! Boom! Pong! Ping! Bang! WHACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! and then... silence......

Satisfaction, was the only word that could describe how i felt. It was as though i scored a goal in the finals in World Cup. Perfect.

No mercy. There was no room for showing symphaty nor emphaty. Rats are a threat to humans. They cause sickness, they spread sickness, they are dirty, and they are real nuisance for biting anything in their sight.

Behind the stove: Bottle caps, chicken bone, fish bone, plastic bag, newspaper... and urine. *vomit

They were hiding behind the stove, and i was worried that it might bite a hole in the gas hose. If the hose was leaking, say goodbye to me and my family as we'll be barbequed.

Flight Safety: No laughing matter

Another post about License Aircraft Engineers if u don’t mind. What to do, not many people know about us. Even some flight stewardess said “huh? What do they do?”

Me, being (soon-to-be actually) one of the LAEs, and also a blogger, of course i would take the opportunity of blogging to spread my words and make the world hear me, feel me, understand me, and most importantly: REMEMBER US AS LICENSE AIRCRAFT ENGINEERS.

Flying is not a funny business. But do you know that flying is the safest of all modes of transportation? You don’t believe me?

According to the US based National Transportation Safety Board in a survey couple of years ago, it stated that your chances of being killed in a motorcar accident is 1 in 5,000. Malaysians know that very well as come festive season, we always have statistics of death by motor vehicle topping each other every year.

The US survery also noted that if you decide to travel by train, the odds are reduced to 1 in 40,000. In an aeroplane, it varies from 1 in 400,000 to 10,000,000 depending on the REPUTATION on the airline. (MAS reputation = GOOD ;P)

Effects when baggages are unevenly loaded into the plane.

Just like your car, maintenance is the key to transportation safety. In reality, the maintenance guys of aircrafts are not like your next door mechanics. The difference being that we are not usually in greasy overalls and we don't allow you to sit and watch us until we get impatient and hit you with either a spanner or a humongous bill!

For your info, LAEs have uniforms to wear too. Like pilots, we have white shirt, black trousers, and 3 golden bars on our shoulder (3.5 bars for Foreman). But then again, that wont happen until i grad. Thus for now, as a trainee engineer, i'll stil be wearing greasy overalls haha!

Aircraft maintenance is professionally done. It involves serious no-nonsense approach. Prior to every flight, the maintenance personnels conduct a thorough visual inspection on the aircraft, checking for dents, damange, or cracks on the body and and oil leaks from the systems. Once found, we'll start cracking our heads like opening a durian!

Think think think! Accurate and fast decisions have to made immediately. Notify the Lead Engineer/Foreman about the problem, and inform the airport staff the time needed to delay the flight. Better be quick, because Malaysians are never patient when it comes to paying RM2000-4000 for a ticket hahaha! They expect quality, true?

Looks like an aborted take off. Tyres will automatically puncture when overheat.

Also, after 3-50 days, the plane's surface controls are thoroughly checked. This includes the landing gears, brakes, various fluid levels as well as the oxygen system.

On top of that, every eight months, the internal control system, all the emergency equipment and the hydraulic system are carefully checked. Of course, if your see emergency equipments being deployed during a flight, it's probably time to call your family and the insurance agent! LoL...

*Extra knowledge: The air inflated-slide during emergency use can be fully inflated in just 6 seconds (it's very huge). And it is inflated using nitrogen.

Bird strike on the engine. It must be an ostrich to cause that dent!

Every 12-17 months, the maintenance crew do an even more detailed check, using devices to probe for wear and tear, corrosion, and cracks in components that are not visible to the eye.

Most importantly, after every 3-5 years, the aircraft is taken apart for a major overhaul. Major overhaul means stripping the planes until it is naked. For easier understanding, strip off your clothes, your skin, your hair, your muscles, your organs, but only leave your skeleton. Get it?

This entails the removal of major components that are life expired and replacing them with newer ones where applicable. Kinda like doing plastic surgery, except that the final outlook will still be the same.

Never feel scared while flying alright? The guys maintaining your flight are well trained and experience. And no aircraft manufacturer sets out to produce a faulty aircraft, because it doesn't kill a maximum of 5-6, but a minimum of 100-200 people.

Chill, sit back, chew kacang, and watch the in-flight entertainment while enjoying your aircraft meal ok? U'll reach your destination in no time and it's gonna be all fine.

Do u know what is a Boeing, and what is an Airbus? This two names are the names that u always hear of whenever people talk bout planes, isn't it? For those of u who donno, dun worry, let me teach u all about aeroplanes. Just sit back and read and learn cos it's pretty interesting hihihi....

Boeing and Airbus are aircraft manufacturers. Just like Toyota, Honda, BMW, Ferrari... which are car manufacturers. There are many other aircraft manufacturers too like McDonnell Douglas, Eagle, Cessna, Piper, Antonov... but Boeing and Airbus are the largest commercial aircaft manufacturer in the world. All the 737, 747, 777, 330, 340, 380 that u heard of are from this 2 companies.

Boeing is an American company based in Seattle (if not mistaken); whereas Airbus is a French company based in Toulose. So this 2 companies are serious rivals in terms of doing business and also technology. Always trying to out-do each other.

To narrow down the topic, I'll explain about Boeing only. Boeing's aircraft models always start with a '7'. For instance B(Boeing) 737, B747, B777. Till today, they have produced many models namely from 707 all the way up to 777, and the upcoming B787 that will be released in year 2008.

Our national flag carrier - Malaysia Airlines, made a very wise choice of getting the 3 most popular models of Boeing: B737, B747, and B777. The 737 is the major work horse for the company, boasting a fleet of 39 of them. The 747 is the famous jumbo jet that fits the most people. And the 777 (also called T7 - Tripple 7) is the famous fully digital aircraft with the latest & highest technology.

But do u know how to differentiate them? When u hear a plane flying above you, and you tilt your head upwards, shielding the sun with your hand to have a look at the plane, do you see it as just-an-aeroplane, or do u try to figure out what model it is like what i do?

It's the same like checking out cars while driving. U'll go like.."wahh BMW 5 series... wah Mazda RX-8... that car damn sleek" rite? haha... now here's the few things to look out for to differentiate the planes.

1st thing to check out is the SIZE.

737 & 747

Size does matter. Having the 737 in the foreground and 747 in the background, it is obvious that the 737 is so much shorter in length (almost half), and so much shorter in height too (almost half too).

2nd thing to check out is the ENGINES.

747

737

The 747 has 4 engines: 2 on each wing. Whereas the 737 has 2 engines: 1 on each wing. Also, pay attention to the shape of 737's engine. Instead of round, the 737's engine is rather flat at the bottom part. This is because the aircraft is not tall but the engine is very big, so the manufacturer decided to flatten the bottom part to increase clearance between the runway and engine (to prevent from sucking in debris/stones).

3rd thing to check out is the SHAPE.

747

737

The 747 Jumbo Jet has its trademark of the swollen front part (double decker), so it is very easily noticed. The 737 is straight from nose to tail. Next, check out the vertical thingy at the end of the wings(wing tip) of the 747. It's called a winglet, and the 737 doesn't have winglets. Then, look at the tail section. The connecting section between the vertical tail and body of the 737 has 2 angles, whereas the 747 has only 1 angle.

The last thing to check out is the LANDING GEARS (wheels).

The 747 has 18 wheels: 4 4 4 4 2. The 737 has only 6 wheels: 2 2 2. Knowing that the 747 is twice it's size, and 3 times its weight, more wheels are needed to distribute and absorb the impact of the plane.

And here's my all time favourite - The T7.

- No winglet
- 14 wheels: 6 6 2
- Economy class seat configuration: 2 5 2

I've heard from my seniors who are already license aircraft engineers that they can even differentiate the aircraft models just by listening to the roaring of the turbine engines. Amazing! they must have reached the 'God-like Level'! :P

Moto SLVR L7

Finally, i've got some time to sit down and enjoy blogging. It's been such a tiring week in campus, whereby we have this new project to remove, overhaul, and re-install all the landing gears (wheel structure + wheels) of a Hawker Siddeley 125 (aircraft model). This HS125 used to be Kenny Rogers' private jet, and now it's lying in my campus' hangar, as scrap metal haha...

Anyway, we'll leave the aircraft post for another day. Need to rest my mind and talk bout other things in life - my baby L7!!! muacks! LoL... It's turning 1 week old this evening and it's doing good. In fact, it has became my new best friend and my companion when i'm bored.

Motorola SLVR L7
As everyone knows, motorola came out with an all new design, which is the slim v3, flip version RAZR (Razor). Few months later, they came out with a candy bar version aka SLVR, which is pronounced as Slee-ver, not saliva! It sounds so-not-cool if it's called 'air liur' hahahaha.... :P

I remembered that when moto's slim phones were first released, it was really expensive, around the range of Rm1.8k-2k? Being in love with the phone, but knowing that it wouldn't come true, i broke off my relationship with moto :( and cried...

But somehow cupid heard bout my story, and told the marketing department of moto to lower down their prices and release new models with the same theme of SLIM. So, moto engineers brought it frying pans and cooking utensils to squash and compress the v3, then added sugar and spices and everything nice. Puff! the SLVR L7 was born!

Sold at RM1k at release time, i waited patiently till the 1st digit became '6', and there i was standing in the shop buying the L7 for the price of RM699 which comes with a 128mb external memory and 262K TFT screen.

Now dun even start asking "why buy a motorola?!" I bought it for its design, for its technology, for its slimness. Personally, i feel that it's a collector's piece. It's slim yet solid as steel. It's keypad is one of a kind. Not to forget, it's black.

New in box

Being a proud owner of my baby L7, i opened the box up and check out everthing. There was a charger, a USB cable, a handsfree earphone, and manual.

SLVR manual

So, i grab hold of the manual and looked at the cover. Simple and nice. Then, i turned it over and looked at the back and some CAPITAL LETTES caught my attention. It read PORTUGUESE. Oh no...

It really is in Portugese! or maybe it's not! but i just couldn't understand a single thing it says! i flipped through the whole book, and yet nothing looked familiar. (which i later found out that 3 of my other friends had the same portugese manual) Thanx to the internet, i managed to get a soft copy of the L7 manual.

Flat Keypad

This is the the best part that i like about this phone. It's flat and it looks perfect. the blue back-lit adds to its cool-ness. It feels weird to sms on a flat surface at first, but u'll get use to it. Notice that the alluminum alloy keypad reflects the light. Oh, and it's light sensitive, meaning that it doesn't lit up when the surrounding is bright enough, to conserve energy.

That lil round hole at the side of the keypad is the microphone. It is positioned beside the number 6 because that's where u positioned your mouth at, so it catches the most of what u speak. The next picture is the cable hole. It's the only hole on the phone and all cables into the phone shares that same hole - charger, handsfree, and USB. For your info, u can charge L7 with the USB cable, but it takes a longer time.

The speaker is at the lower back of the phone and it's really good. Crisp and clear and loud. And also, there's a moto logo on the back cover which is made from alloy too. That explains why the phone is so solid because it's covered with metal.

On the sides of L7, that's where chrome-plated buttons are. Volume control and Push-To-Talk (PTT) buttons are on the left. Camera button and external memory slot is on the right.

Micro SD.

Unbelievably TINY! it suits the theme very well - SLIM. Girls would have no problem getting it out from the phone with just a finger nail push; but guys with big fat fingers would be slightly harder. It's only 1mm thick and as broad as your pinky finger's nail.

Camera.

Though 0.3MP only, it looks very clear on the screen, thanx to the 262K TFT screen. Not for general photo shooting, but more of for random shots for fun. Light exposure and 4x zoom can be easily adjusted on the keypad click wheel.

Weird

Soon after trying out the functions. I found this in the phone book. CHINESE WORDS! how come!? everything in the phone was english except for the subtitle CATEGORY. other options under CATEGORY are family, business and VIP. But all are in chinese words except for VIP. I am still wondering why.

Another down side of this is that when someone calls or sms, and you have previously saved their name as 012.... without +6012..... their names wouldn't show up! this is so so so cacat! i had to change all my 200+ contacts to +601.... so stupid. But then, maybe it's because i'm using prepaid, cos another friend using the same L7 is using post-paid, and he doesn't have the problem i'm facing. ARGH!

To end this post for today, i'll feature u with a picture snapped with L7's camera. An indian guy in Sg Wang wearing light pink long-sleeve shirt and slippers, with BOXERS as his shorts! I saw him walking from the opposite direction and the little elephant of his was like swaying left and right under that thin piece of cloth! ewwwwwwwww!!!! He is gross! eye pollution!

Diving in Aquaria, KLCC

Today is my elder bro's birthday. I wonder what's he doing in the land far far away from home - Vietnam. Poor him, no friends and family to celebrate with him, hopefully his colleagues do throw him a simple party and have a nice meal or something like that.

Reminds me of my 18th birthday. I had no plans at all, no party, no nothing. I felt so bored at home that i went to the barber and had the shortest crew cut availbale (1 level b4 botak). Urgh, never celebrate your birhday alone, it makes u do stupid things.

Birthday Boy

Why is birthday boy pictured in diving suit? cos he loves diving alot. He used to work part-time during weekends in aquaria as a diver. Not really for the money, but for the experience and fun, and also the fame for being the few fortunate ones to be able to be part of the team. Imagine, diving in Kuala Lumpur!

Lots of bloggers have talked bout their trips to Aquaria, KLCC, snapping lots of beautiful pics from the famous semi-spherical glass walkway. But i'm gonna show something different from all those pics. It would still be in the famous semi-spherical walkway, just that it is from the inside a.k.a aquarium, cool eh? tadaaaaaaaaaa! say cheeseeeeeeeeee!

I wonder whether he feels like he's in a zoo. Everyone is outside looking at him! hahaha... Suddenly this thought pop up in my mind, it would be great if he could write on the glass "WILL U BE MY GIRLFRIEND/WIFE?" or "WILL U MARRY ME?" while in water. It would be very creative and romantic, lovely! :P

Though he works there, but i dun get any discounted tickets *(@#&$*&!!! To be frank, i've never stepped into Aquaria haha! Perhaps i should apply for the job too when i have enough diving experience, then i would be able to enter for free and be part of the animals in zoo! wahhahah!

Feeding Time

Divers in Aquaria have a few task to carry out. For instance, feeding the fish. Twice a day, the fish will be fed. I've forgotten the feeding time, but it's around afternoon and evening. So, divers feed them with sotong and different variety of fish, but definitely no blood ok? I know it would be thrilling to watch shark + human in action LIVE, but the divers love their life alright? LoL!

Look at that huge garoupa(if not mistaken) coming up behind the diver. It's as huge as the diver! Gigantic! I bet a human's head can enter its mouth. Scary! But no worries, these captive fish are use to human exposure, they are friendly creatures.

Oh, this 1, the very lazy one. Always lying there, doesn't even bother if there's fish right in front of it. Lazy ass fish. Even if there's food in front of it, it wouldn't move, but just open its mouth and suck the food in.

U wouldn't wanna play a fool with this guy. Though they are tame in the aquarium, but they are born to be cruel, anything might happen anytime if it's agitated. Look at the gills at the side of the head, it opens and closes non stop. And somehow that scary eyes is really scary ok!

Those sharp teeth are sharp enough for us to punch our parking tickets! Look at the number of them, so many! so sharp! Ouch! It's coming towards u! Run! no no... SWIM!

Here's a short video clip from the Aquaria itself. Not from the outside, but the inside. For non-divers, this is exactly what u'll see and go through while diving. But of course this is during night time, it's dark. It would be much brighter during the day. And also, the breathing of air is as heard. Dun be worried, diving is safe. In fact it's very fun cos u can feel how an astronaut feels - floating! u dun sink nor do u float, u just stay level in the water like a fish.

Susu U.H.T Berperisa Coklat

Being a fresh milk lover, i can finish a 1L box of HL milk all by myself in 1 day. I just love it so much since i was young. Back then when dad was still working with MARDI, i used to drink the freshest milk, fresh from the cow/goat itself. Luv it! Hey, wait a minute, i dun mean i put my mouth on the gigantic large huge nipples of the cow and start sucking ok?! :P

Just seive the fresh milk into a pot and boil it till... i can't remember. A layer of fat is then formed on the surface after boiled. Heard that's how manufacturers produce butter. Oooohhh, the creamy milk taste so good, it still smells like the cow hahahha!

Today, was kinda dissapointed to open the fridge and not see any HL milk box. Stock finish. Being unsatisfied, i knelt down in front of the fridge and started foraging through all the bayam, carrot, kangkung, cabbage, and last night's food. Once i pushed the bundle of bayam wrapped in old newspapers aside, to my surprise, i saw this!

Jo Cerdik!

A big smile was on my face the next moment when i pulled it out from the deep fridge. I've got a box of chocolate flavoured milk! yeay! U might be wondering how come u have never seen this packaging in supermarkets. It's not any ordinary milk than one can buy even if he's rich hahaha!

The picture says it all - a school kid holding a box of milk. It's from the Program Susu Sekolah of Malaysia! Only available in Malaysian schools. Now, it has a new vibrant & healthy outlook compared to the previous outlook which was slightly dull.

Remember the previous outlook? it was dark brown in color. I remember back then in primary school, the 'ketua kelas' would take down our orders by writing how many boxes beside our name in the name list. I, would definitely put '1' everytime. 1 doesn't mean 1 box, but...... 1 BIG box with 24 boxes in it LoL!

At the end of the last class, i would be the most 'lansi' fella in school. Holding 1 big carton of milk, while other kids were only having 1 on each hand :P But come to think of it, it was quite stupid. It's just milk, why was i so proud.

The funny thing is that when i reach home, there'll be another carton or two of the same exact milk. My mum is a teacher! she gets to buy the milk too! Dun ask why, but i dunno why i still wanted to buy when mum can buy it. stupid? *smack me pls

Strong bones & teeth

Look at how much the outlook has changed through the years. Now the straw is blue in color and bendable at two corners, makes it look like something to drink by the pool side. It also spreads the info of drinking milk builds stronger bones and teeth, especially during growing age. (it's so very true) With the kid's thumb showing GOOD, it just looks correct!

sighh... i feel young again, slouching on the sofa watching spongebob while having the straw stuck in the mouth. Ocassionaly spilling onto my shirt, urgh! nvm.. there's always the sleeves to wipe clean my mouth wahahahah! :P!!! Dun u just miss those days!?

How To Start an Aeroplane

Am inspired to blog bout planes today. Having just came back from KLIA, the sight of huge aircrafts flying 20 metres above me, and the roaring sound of those huge engines, sending a continuous gush of wind for the next 30 seconds or so after flying pass, it's just syok.

Im not sure whether u guys have been to the prohibited area in KLIA - the end of the runway (kompleks bunga raya)? Yea, it's prohibited to enter and drive on the road parallel to the runway. The sight of seeing a life plane rolling on the runway is exhilarating, in addition of being so near to it. BUT there's the possibility of being stopped by police cars doing their rounds. Be careful.

Ever thought of today's topic? How to start an aeroplane engine? Is it similar to cars where we insert the keys and crank the engine? Do u need to step on fuel pedals to rav the engne?

Answer is no. Aircraft engine starting is totally different from automobiles. There's no key, and there's no fuel pedal. A car takes bout 3 seconds to crank, but an aeroplane takes 30 seconds.

Some might think, Do Pilots lock the plane like we lock our car? ahahha... answer is no again. The reason is because who would want to steal an aeroplane when u most probably will be gunned down by security officials even before stepping into the plane?

Furthermore, why would someone wanna steal a plane when he doesn't even know how to fly one. So, dun be so futuristic by thinking that planes have remote control locking system. Dit Dit! hahha...

Before starting an engine. The aircraft engineers will do a pre-flight check according to a check-list. After clearing the check-list, the aircraft engineers sign the papers and certify that the plane is fit to fly. Then, the Pilot comes and take over the plane.

The Pilot now does the same thing(double check), do a pre-flight check around the aircraft, checking for foreign objects obstructing the engine inlet and stuff. Then, he will get back to the cockpit and both Captain and Co-pilot are ready to start the engine.

Firstly, Pilot will turn on the MASTER SWITCH, which turns on all the electrical stuff. Cockpit will light up and LCDs will show information on the engine. After turning on the master switch, next will be the Auxilliary Power Unit(APU) switch.

APU is at the back of the plane.

APU is a small engine located at the back of an aeroplane, normally used for engine starting only. So the APU produces a high volume of air and ducts/send these compressed air all the way from the back, through the wings, and finally to the engine. This air is used to turn the huge and heavy fan blades of the engine.

When the blades are turning, it sucks in a sufficient amount of air from the atmosphere into the engine. For combustion(explosion) to occur, there are 3 things to be met. Combustion = Air + Fuel + Heat.

Big planes have 4 engines; smaller ones have 2. Nice pic, btw!

Now that we have air in the engine, we need heat. Following that, Pilot turns on the ignition switch.

Ignition switch is the circuit that sends around 20,000 volts of energy to the igniter unit (spark plug for automobiles). This high energy causes a high intensity spark and produces a tremendous high heat. The spark is quite alike the camera's flash, just that it's 10 flashes in 5 seconds. Your eyes will hurt if exposed too long.

Lastly before combustion occurs, Pilot turns on the fuel pump switch. Once on, the boost pump will pump fuel into the Fuel Control Unit (FCU), which meters the appropriate amount of fuel needed for starting.

Walaaaa! the high heat burns the fuel/air mixture and brings the engine to self-sustaining speed/idle speed. At this point, it is critical for the pilot to observe the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT). A normal engine start will bring the EGT to let's say 680F (depending on aircraft type). If the temperature shoots to 700F, the pilot has to shut off the fuel into the engine immediately, to cut off the engine.

Oh Ku Kueh - Behind The Scene

Happy April Fool! Anyone got dooped yet? seems like the Malaysian Citizens are getting smarter by year, i dun hear as much April Fool stories as before, or is it just me being stuck in the jungle for too long that i dunno how to joke? uh...

It's the time of the year again for Qing Ming. Suddenly i feel like showing off my 11 years of broken mandarin. Here goes...

Qing ming shi jie yu fen fen,
Lu shang xing ren yu duan huen,
Jie wen jiu jia he chu ye,
And i dunno what's the last sentence.

Hahahaha! i'm so proud of myself! I've been asking everyone the same question every year during 1st week of April for the past 8 years, 'what's the last sentence?' and yet i can't remember! So now i resort to online friends to help me. Anyone can help me out on this? :P

Since tomorrow me going to do some exercise by ascending & descending hillssss and accidentally stepping over tombs, mum decided to feed me with her high energy food - OH KU KUEH! a.k.a black ku cake...... LoL!!!!!

That's what everyone calls it in hokkien. But in hakka (my mother tongue), we call it Chu1 Yap4 Ban1 (Kuih Daun Kasar in B.M). Why so? cos the leaf used for making this kueh is very coarse and berbulu-bulu like a guy's hairy leg. Ewwww! *vomit - of all things to compare, why the hairy legs!?

This plant originated from a small town in Jelebu District called Titi.

So, today, let Kampungkai - the kampung boy teach u how to make Black Ku Kueh! Firstly, chop off a hand full of this daun kasar plant, and pluck only the leaves, leaving the stems back. U dunwan to bite on such fiberous stems later on cos u ain't a goat.

As big as my hand!

I was wondering whether this is the leaf that ribena berries use to cover up their private parts, it looks pretty alike u know? It's even big enough for human's use! My goodness! just make sure it doesn't fall off.

Back to topic. Secondly, put all those leaf (rinse 1st) into a big pot with some water, and boil it for many hours till it becomes erm... like recycled paper pulp, get what i mean? no? erm... imagine throwing something soft on the wall and it takes 10 seconds to flow down the wall hahaha! now u get it?

Then, add in glutinous rice flour and mix mix mix till your biceps, triceps, and forearm muscles become rock hard. When it's done, take a rest and watch cartoon 1st.

Chai Bu (in mandarin) + pork/chicken what's chai bu called in english?

The pink color thing is the mould to shape the dough. It's a turtle shell shape. Make a hollow in the center, and add in the Chai Bu. Next, cover it up and compress it so that it gets its shape.

Big = Guys'...... Small = Ladies'

After u got it compressed, knock the mould on the table to let the turtle shell fall off. Tadaaaaaaaa, a turtle shell sitting on the banana leaf! Original Oh Ku Kueh, no artificial flavouring, no artificial coloring, just purely authentic.

Steamer

Put them into the steamer for approximtely 15-20 minutes. Once u open up the steamer lid, steaming hot water vapor will gush out like an atom bom, forming a small white mushroom in the kitchen (no la.. was just exaggerating). Anyway, do be careful not to scorch your hands.

Finish Product.

Now, this is what i call BLACK. It looks very tempting, dun u feel like landing your mouth on it? *chew chew chew... it's big, it's fat, it has got lots of chai bu inside, lovely! For easy storage, cut off the sides of the banana leaf, so that it looks neater too. It seems like there's a whole tray of steamed baby turtles, dun u think so?

Drooling already?

This is the best part, look at how much Chai Bu there is stuffed inside this Oh Ku Kueh. wahhhhhh i myself am already drooling! soft soft on the outside, but when u get to the fillings, it's slightly crunchy and salty, and u can feel the texture of the fresh dough in your mouth, mm mmmm mmmmmmmm!

Now u see it......... now u don't!

It's so tasty that u dunwanna have small bites ya know. It taste so good to have 1 big chunk of it in your mouth. It's abit like chewing gum, whereby it's a lil starchy, but difference is that u can swallow it. Therefore, with 4 bites, u get the satisfaction. *burppppp

Pulau Pemanggil, Dayang, and Aur

Crystal clear and turquoise green water. Swaying coconut trees as the cool sea breeze blows. Soft white sand. Peace and tranquility.

Hahaha... these are the words that i've learnt upon reading reviews about islands & beaches from the net. They make the holiday trip to islands & beaches wonderful ya? They sound good!

It has been 6 days since i got home from my tirp to Pulau Pemanggil, Dayang, and Aur. Am sufferring from itchiness on my shoulder and back now, results from sun-burning and skin peeling. In short, i feel like a snake now, shedding my skin, leaving patches of white(new cells) and black(dead cells), IT'S UGLY!

From left to right: Adrienne, Ju Liang, Me, Joanne, Albert with the same LandCruiser II we used for Cameron trip. Departed from Seremban at 1am, went through Kuala Pilah, Batu Kikir, Muadzam Shah, Kuala Rompin, and reached Mersing, Johor at 5am. The driver and I (navigator) felt like a zombie soon after getting out of the car, tired n sleepy! Had breakfast at the 24hr canteen at the jetty. Tips: Try the nasi lemak of the inner most stall, delicious! But teh tarik: thumbs down.

After a 2 hr speed boat ride, we've reached P.Pemanggil! No matter how tired or restless u are, upon seeing the beautiful resort and 10 ft clear water, it all feels wonderful and relaxing :)

So, we went snorkelling and saw these fish. I think i'm snorkelling at home everyday! LoL!

Then, we went sight-seeing. Wooden walkway bridges were built to walk over huge rocks.

2 days after the full moon. Cloudless sky with a bright reflection of the moon on the sea surface.

Day 2. Off we go on the tradisional fishing boat to Pulau Dayang and Pulau aur. Notice how clear the water is. It was slow, but steady. Just sit back and enjoy the wind as the boat moves.

BUT, it was so slow that we chose to have a nap(sunbathe) instead haha! In the background, the small island is Pulau Dayang, and the huge 1 is Pulau Aur.

Taking a break from the aviation industry, Albert decided to take up maritime instead. "Eye eye, Sir!"

Captain Albert safely monouvered through South China Sea and reached the jetty of Pulau Dayang.

What'cha looking at!? Dinner time! The resort operator really does ring a copper bell, DING DONG DING DONG! then everyone will rush out from the room and head towards dining room. I miss the fresh fish & sotong :( On the 1st day, me and bert used fork and spoon. On the 2nd day, we used chopsticks, just to be different. And on the 3rd day, we used our bare hands to eat! wahhahaa... product of multi-culture country! :P

U know what is in this 3 bottles? It's shredded Malaysian Ringgit paper notes! RM1, RM2, RM5, RM10, RM50, and RM100! I'm not kidding! i was so shocked to see this, in fact it was my 1st time seeing such thing! I wonder whether it's false money from Bank Negara or the resort operator is too rich and has too much paper notes that he wanna get rid of them?

3d2n RM288 (not including Rm30 car petrol/person). Trip finish. My verdict? Not worth going. Why? Cos there's no more corals for snorkelling trips. Malaysian water is going through too much destruction, whatever is left is dead corals. I only saw 2 soft corals(anemonies) and 6 clown fish in 3d2n. That's saddening. So, i hope u guys take up diving too, cos 20-30m down in the sea, it is still very beautiful, definitely will satisfy you.

If snorkelling is a better choice for u, then Redang is a good spot, but u have to pay RM5 to view beautiful corals as they are protected under the marine park. (but then again Redang was reported with some damage to the corals bout 2 weeks ago, result from tourist)Better spots to snorkel in Malaysia? Sabah. There's Pulau Layang-layang... TAR islands, still very beautiful. If u r loaded, then try mauritius and carribean hahaha! why am i comparing!?

Anyone still dare to step into the water of Port Dickson? eww.... *vomit

Flooded With Salt Water

U can smell the aroma or sate burning in Kajang Town, u can also smell the sea in my house near Kajang Town. Some 30 hours after i got home from my trip to Pulau Pemanggil, Pulau Dayang, and Pulau Aur, which was surrounded by the South China Sea, my living room was surrounded/flooded with Aquarium Sea. My aquarium cracked. Now, my house smells like some fishing village in Mersing and I'm having a hard time cleaning up the mess.

I was surfing the net when i heard water dripping in the living room. Thinking that the water pump's hose must have disengaged, i took my own sweet time continuing surfing the net. To my shock, water was flowing out from the bottom of the aquarium! It was no ordinary water, but salt water! My salt water aquarium was leaking water in the living room! HELP!

Heart-beat rose immediately. I turned off the main switch, which turns off all (3) the pumps and (4) lights, yet water was still flowing. Ran to the washroom, grab hold of a few buckets and started scooping water out from the tank. 1st priority - save the 'Finding Nemo' family! (my aquarium has the complete family of finding nemo movie - Dory, Nemo & daddy......)

While scooping out the water, i had to prepare the back-up aquarium. For hygienic reasons, the back-up aquariums had to be wash before use. The shoes right beside the aquarium was soaking with salt water, had to transfer them to safe ground too. urghhh so much work going on simultaneously, but still wondering how on earth it cracked.

Getting the salt water fish transferred wasn't an easy job. They swim way faster than those fresh water fish. It caused them lots of energy and stress swimming away from the net that eventually they went exhausted and willingly gave in to me. From such a big tank to swim in, now the family of 9 is downsized to a 2x1 foot tank.

Fish safely transferred, sigh of relief, but the worst has just started. 1/4 of the living room was flooded with salt water. I looked at the floor for a full 10 seconds, not knowing where to start from. Since it was 1am midnight when the tank started leaking, it made things worse.

Thanx to the car windscreen cleaner, it made things slightly easier (mops come to no use at all). Foot by foot, i had to drain the water out from the living room. Then, turn on all the fans in the living room to blow dry the marble floor. And when the floor is dry, it is sticky, because of the salt. So, i have to mop the floor, not once, not twice, but 10 times! no kidding! till now of which i've wiped the floor 13 times, including twice with detergent, there's still a slight stickiness which makes u tip-toe while walking.

Since the supporting structure of the tank is made from wood, i have to bring it out to the sun and dry it. And that definitely needs the minimum help of 2 guys, which my family is lack of now. (parents goes to work) The glass tank is really heavy! Any volunteers? haha...

While cleaning up the tank, I found a dried fish at the dry part of the tank Haha! i have no idea when it happened, but it seems it happened quite a long time ago as it was really dry and the eyes was hollow! It commited suicide sighhh... am i not a good owner?

For those of u wondering how to prepare the salt water environment for the fish to live in. Let me explain, it's very simple. Of course, u need salt to get salt water. So buy the salt from some aquarium shop and just mix with tap water. The difference of cooking salt and aquarium salt? i really dunno. But i definitely won't risk using cooking salt as my aquarium's source of salt water, because it's not worth trying. The nemo family is not cheap. Anyway, after mixing salt + tap water, use this meter and fill it with salt water. Check the specific gravity of the water and make sure it's in between the red color range. As simple as that.

They are doing good now, but pretty obvious that the tank is too small for 9 fish to live in, it feels like being in jail. Till then, do wait for my next post on my trip during last weekend to the islands in 2 days' time.

Apology

I owe all my blogger friends an apology for not blogging for the past 2 weeks. And will not blog for another 7days. Am so busy with studies for the past 2 weeks: presentation, exams, reports, assignemnts... those stuff that all students get, u know? but mine comes with an extra one, which is practical class with all the spanner hammer screwdrivers... So by the end of a day, i would be exhausted and dun feel like using the brain at all.

Anyway, so sorry again. I'll see u guys in 7 days! :) Enjoy some pictures that are not suppose to be exposed to the public (no cameras are allowed in the MAS hangar). But since it was snapped the A380 tour, and eveyrone brought camera... so that special day was exempted haha!

Still in time to post up my weekly article before i start work at Kampachi, else no one would wanna read anything from me again, because for being inconsistent in blogging. (I've been busy with studies!)

Girls = fashion slave. Agree? all the guys out there, i know u agree with me haha! They spend lots of $$$ on clothes and makeup, don't they? Not uncommon, they have this shop-till-drop syndrome. Maybe not for working ladies out there cos they have wages. But for girl friends of mine who are still studying, man... besides paying for room rent, everything else goes into shopping! they shop-till-die.

Even though we guys' stuff are much more expensive than gals (like PS2, iPod, leather shoes, Nike shoes), but yet, they still spend more than us! how come!? Besides, knowing that shopping means alot of walking, yet gals still wear high-heels for shopping, even though i always lecture my girl friends to wear snikers instead. Sigh... *shakes head, NEVER LEARN!

But well, no harm done-lah... Gals always look pretty and gorgeous. With those rosy cheeks, sexy lips, and heels, they attract whole lots of attention! Keep it up! We(guys) do complain, but yet our eyes never fail u haha! :P

Who she? She - my online friend, Amy. But preferred to be called Monster, she loves it, rite monster? A lil bit of intro, I got to know monster some years back then when ICQ was such a hip (when we gotta memorise some 9 digit account number, remember?). She's 19, and currently studying in St. Andrews, Scotland.

One fine day, she IM me and said "I need to borrow RM100 from u". I went blur and could only make the expression of 'huhhhh?'. Knowing that she's in UK, my brain started doing some calculations. RM100 = 15pounds. Why on earth would she wanna borrow 15 pounds from me, it's not even enough to pay for her dinner!

Then, slowly and sweetly... she asked for a favour, to help her buy a mascara from Lancome. Well done, she's asking a GUY who knows nuts bout makeup to help her buy a mascara. After getting a short makeup class from her, well it ain't that hard to understand the terms like Lengthening & Volume, though to me, length means inches, cm, mm, foot, and miles; whereas volume = length x width x height. But to girls, it means 60% increase in eye lashes' length and volume makes her grow more eye lashes!

It was a big dissapointment when i drove to Kajang town's Parkson Grand. There was no such brand called Lancome at the makeup section, but there was one called Mustika Ratu, duh! I do hope some marketing fella from Lancome is reading this now, open a booth in Parkson Grand, Kajang! It would make my life easier! I just wanna buy a mascara from u, and u make me go all the way to Mid-valley, so pa-pai!

There I was, in mid-valley with a bunch of guys (i'm so dead). As usual, they started teasing me when i said that i need to buy a mascara. Who's that girl? Pretty not? eh, since when, never tell us? what's her name? Ignoring them, i walked towards the Lancome sales girl. (shy to the maximus!)

sg: hahaha, well we have 2 new products, L'extreme and Hypnose. L'extreme gives 60% increase in length and Hypnose gives both length and volume, but not as lenghty as L'extreme.

sg: hahaha, is she active in sports? does she sweat alot?
me: NO! (she's such a lazy ass)
sg: ok, then take the non-waterproof one. However, most ppl will take the waterproof one. With the waterproof one, she has to have a makeup remover, does she have one?
me: ?????
sg: *she gave up, cos she was like talking to an idiot
me: how much is L'extreme and Hypnose?
sg: L'extreme is RM89 and Hypnose is RM85.
ME: *GASP!

What the heck, a 5.2g black stick cost RM85!? the packet chilli sauce given by KFC is even heavier than it (10g)! Using my logical brain, i made a decision to get the Hypnose. L'extreme's 60% increase in length would make her look fake, she's not a blardy camel from the dessert.

I was wondering why couldn't she just buy it in scotland? Till she told me that it cost 30pounds over there, I was shocked! goodness, it comes to RM200 after conversion! crazy! wow... didn't know that Malaysia really is a shopping heaven to the westerners.

Hypnose, it sounds pretty good ya know? it's like, after applying Hypnose mascara on, u can hypnotise any guy u see, just like the movie Geisha haha! So for all the girls out there, go grab yourself a Hypnose and make the guys beg for moreeeeeeeee! LoL!

International KASTAM Day. That was what all the hoo-haa was about. Every single fella in hostel was excited bout this particular day, because there's a KASTAM Sale. What's a KASTAM sale? It's where our Malaysian Kastam sells off smuggled stuff confiscated by them at a very very low price, haha I bet u wish that u could join me!

1st thing that came to my mind when i heard bout this Sale was 'Do they sell handphones?'. I have to admit that i was all excited bout it and was already drooling of me owning a Nokia N90, Nokia N70, Motorola RAZR v3/v3i, or a Samsung D600! How much? All for the maximum price of RM50! Lovely! Unbelievable!

Woke up at 6:00am on a Monday morning, jump out from bed upon feeling the vibration from my hp alarm, ran to the bathroom to have a steamy hot bath and got dressed. My mum & dad saw me and said 'wah, why did u wake up so early?' LoL! they were shocked to see me awake at 6 in the morning. I guess they saw the blue moon? :P

Putrajaya, that's where the Malaysian KASTAM's HQ is. Very big building, easily noticed. It's right in front of u as u drive over that beautifully designed bridge. Btw, i heard lots of ppl saying that the view from the aeroplane of Putrajaya is nice, is it true?

There was already a crowd of 1000 people when i arrived at 7:30am. Yea, it was crazy. Obviously, there were lots of young people there for the same reason that i was there - to get the RM50 handphone. Without hesitation, me and my 'full-semangat' buddies joined the crowd and squeezed our way through to get in line. Though it was still early in the morning, and the sun was obscured by the fluffy clouds, but beads of sweat was forming on my face! Cos the heat generated by 1000 people = afternoon sun.

See the crowd in the picture? The whole place was chaotic. We were all wondering, how come there's so many people attending this Kastam Sale? Don't they need to work? Don't they have classes to attend? (Fortunately i have my Monday free) Or most probably they ask for half day work, and students ponteng classes for the sake of RM50 hp? Truly Malaysians.

8:00am. Some guy stood on a ladder right in front of the crowd with a loud speaker and yelled "There's only 1,300 units of hp on sale, and it will only start at 2pm!" right after he said that, i felt as though i was in a riot crowd. Almost everyone was screaming away, condemning the fella who said that. "Kastam bodoh! Oi, buka kedai la! Boooooooo! *(&@#(*@&^#&$@ many many vulgar words came out from the mouth of Malaysians. As for me, i was busy protecting my white shoes from being stepped on, and also having both my arms in front of my chest protecting myself from being squashed to death. Truly Malaysians.

Having 6 long hours to wait till 2pm, me and my friends who have better brains decided to abandone the crowd after 6 minutes and head for breakfast 1st. Thinking that we have had our breakfast which gives us full of energy to go through the crowd again, and all the others would somehow feel hungry and tired, thus 1 by 1 leaving the crowd, we were wrong! by 10am when we arrived at the same spot, the crowd has multiplied by 3 fold. There was at least 3000-4000 ppl. (the papers reported 10,000ppl the next day)

4000 ppl: 1300 handphones. Something is wrong with the ratio. Out of 3 ppl, only 1 will get to buy it. Knowing this will happen, our KASTAM management came out with a smart idea. Lucky draw! so the crowd has to pull out an envelope from the box and see what the paper inside the envelope writes. Pray hard! if it writes 'Nokia N90 - RM50' Then, it is your lucky day.

Well, things didn't turn out as expected. There were no N90, no N70, no D600, no W800i. Basically, there was nothing above the price range of RM400. I pulled my paper out and it wrote 'Nokia 1600 - RM50'. Kinda dissapointed, i asked my other friends whether they got anything good. To my surprise, they had things worst than me!

Oh yea, while queueing up to get the 1300 envelopes given out, the crowd went crazy. Pushing here and there, lots of people fell down. While being pushed and pulled in the crowd, i saw a row wood-colored batons in front. I wondered what it was. Suddenly, i started to hear yelling of order from the front. Few seconds later, i saw policemen with red crash helmets on, holding a baton on the right hand, and a see-through shield on the left hand! OMG, it was the Federal Reserved Unit(FRU)!!!

I really felt as though i was in a riot, no kidding! Imagine how chaotic the scene was till the extend of deploying the FRU to control the crowd. These FRU started ordering the crowd to make lines. Giving no chance to those not in line, the FRU pulled them with their mighty arms like nobody's business. it didn't matter to the FRUs whether u r a male or female, they pulled the shirt as though it was going to tear any second. I was traumatised.

The FRUs threatened those who didn't obey them with their baton. Everyone was shocked and the crowd obediently lined up. However, 5 mins later, it went back to chaos. Suddenly, a well-build FRU man came up 2metres away from me. He zipped open the pouch on his lower back and pulled out a sivery-colored aluminum can. There was a pin at the top of the can. I was very very traumatised.

With his forefinger engaging the ring which was connected to the pin, he threatened by saying "Nak saya tarik tak? Ha? Buat barisan sekarang!". I dunno what the hell was that but i guess it's a tear gas thingy which makes u run like an ant's house being destroyed. Friends of mine were joking bout it, thinking of the possibility of being a FlashBang! (for those who play counterstrike, u know what it is)

Heck, all the pushing, yelling, threatening, and trauma just for a low-end RM50 handphone. Not worth it. i left the crowd at 12noon, and went home to rest. 4.5 hours later i went back to retrieve my Nokia 1600. They said "oh, stok habis la.. hanya tinggal Nokia 2300"

So, there goes my color screen new model from Nokia (which i found out it was NEW after i went home), it cost bout RM350 in the market. Thus, now owning a Nokia 2300 without color screen. *sob sob Anyhow, i gave it to my mum as a Valentine Gift. hehehhe! That's the good point of not having a gf. My mum = my gf!

If there's any Kastam Sale going on next year. I will not be there. It's pure stupidity to go for such a sale. yea, i'm pretty stupid for going for Kastam Sale 2006 haha! *Smack! (smack me please?)

Malaysians, anything cheap will attract them. If there's free food and drinks, the crowd would be bigger. Malaysians, Truly Malaysia. Don't u think so?

Kampachi

Happy Chinese Valentine's Day! Any guys out there bringing bamboo sticks with an aquarium fishing net tied at the end to the river? Time for bachelors like me to do so. Tonight is the night where bachelorettes throw a mandarin-orange, along with hp number (haha) into the river, and bachelors will be waiting downstream, hoping to get an orange from the river and meet 'The Destined One'. Hopefully, i dun fish up an orange from a GAY! *run!

Kampungkai would be spending his Valentine's Night in a Japanese Restaurant this Tuesday, with all the lovey-dovey couples together, enjoying the love atmosphere, sipping warm green tea from the porcelain cup, and enjoying every bit of the mouth-watering appetizer, main course, and dessert. HOWEVER, Kampungkai will not have a valentine to sit with, to eat with, to laugh with, nor to kiss with! Because... Kam-pungkai is working in Kam-pachi!

Kampachi is a Japanese Restaurant located in Equatorial Hotel (Bangi). It's about 9km away from Kajang town. Inside, u get the feel of a nice japanese restaurant. Upstairs, there are 4 private rooms (i think it's called Tatami?), which can sit about 10 people each, pretty big i should say. And u have to take off your shoes before entering the room, part of the custom perhaps?

Why am i working? Well, thinking that since i'm so free, why not get some stuff to do. Better than sitting in front of the PC everyday and night, checking out the same old URLs daily rite? I have classes from Tuesday-Friday, so i decided to work for the weekends only for the buffet session. Besides, it's a good chance for me to put my japanese speaking to full use! Irasshaimase! Arigato Gozaimasu! Chotto Matte! and.... BAKA! :P

Uh... Tuesday night, serving all the lovey-dovey couples = sux. Kampungkai, why can't u be the one served instead of the one serving? Special night with extra work, but no extra salary, and they are begging me to come on Tuesday night to work. Hm...What if i ffk them? hahaha... there other waiter and waitresses would be doomed!

Kimono Girls

So do i get to join the crowd and eat buffet? Yes of course! but behind the curtains. At the end of the buffet session, we will be in the kitchen, salvaging what is left. There will be sushi(s), tempura(s)... everything! wahahaha! That's the best part of being a waiter! Ooo, not to forget, there's this petite and pretty kakak working as a waitress in Kampachi too, she soothes my eyes and brightens up my day! LoL! The fact that her uniform is a Kimono makes her really stunning, how i wish she was beside me........smiling.......serving............... *dreaming

*Smack! Anyway, they are only paying me RM4/hr. That's not that high. But then the real reason for me to work there is not because of the pay, but more of gaining experience and meeting different people. Through being a waiter, i get to better understand that there're alot of weird and different people out there. And because of these weird and different people, i'll learn how to cope and satisfy their needs (no sex needs ok!).

Now, i really understand stewardesses' job is not that easy. It's not only about serving food and drinks, but also to approach people in a decent way, how u present yourself, and how to make your guest happy and satisfied. And, at the end of the flight, or in my case the buffet session, a waiter/stewardess has walked a few miles! No kidding! Walking up and down between the kitchen and dining room, refilling the empty ocha pot (green tea pot), cleaning up the tables.... and the list goes on. I think i've walked 2.5km in Kampachi itself today haha! nah, just kidding!

My 1st Blogger Gathering

Happy Chinese New Year! (still in the festive mood ya!) :) Gong Xi! Gong Xi! Just got back from my 1st blogger gathering in Milwaukee Steak House, Kepong. Was indeed excited and surprised to see my fellow bloggers in real person! Everyone was without a keyboard and monitor, so i was daydreaming, imagining how would it feel if everyone was in front of the pc. Maybe the next gathering should be held in a CC, then we can all blog together! haha...

You see, bloggers have this syndrome, a unique syndrome i should say. In the streets, it's very obvious to notice if one is a blogger or not. If he/she brings the digicam along wherever he/she goes, and snaps whatever he/she does or eat or see, walaaaaa! u found yourself a blogger! who definitely has the so called 'blogger syndrome'. (Most) Bloggers will be snapping pics everywhere they go, for the sake of our own blog, for enhancing the blog outlook, for attracting more readers, or just for memories in the journal.

Here u are, proof that these bloggers in the pic have 'blogger syndrome'. Everyone is having a camera in their hand, snapping nonstop, they are un-controllable! I have to admit that the flashes from the camera is making me see tweety birds flyng around my head. Btw, how come i still see so many full moons in my eyes, definitely because of the flashes!

Yummy yummy, had a sirloin steak with black pepper sauce (RM21.90)+ mashed potato(RM5.90). It's dissapointing that the chef in the kitchen doesn't understand the writing of the waitress who took my order. Me, being so particular in steak, asked for a medium-cooked steak, which should supposedly turn out reddish in the center of the meat after cutting, soft and juicy when chewed on, but ended up getting a well-done piece of steak that was tough and dry. Urgh, wasted piece of meat.

It's called small-genting! ahhhh, sounds familiar? it's in Ampang, on the top of the hill, where lots of cars not from the neighbourhood would park their car and have a breath-taking night view of Kuala Lumpur.

Here and there u can see young couples standing by the rails of the hill, most of the time the guy will be behind the girl, hugging them, while viewing the blink-blink lights of K.L, so lovely, so romantic huh? But too bad la, i was there with 2 other guys, ish! Potong Stim kaokao!

Attention:
1. Before i start this post, I've to say, I'm a Manchester United fan.
2. Malaysia is a free country, we dun fist fight just for a football game ya?
3. hahhahahahah! chill dudes, dun get angry and start debating bout MU & Liverpool!

Yawn, i'm very sleepy! reached home at 3am, slept at 4am, woke up at 9am, brought the car for service (suspected water might have gone into the engine) on a very very sunny morning, and 2 hours later, now, the sun is no where to be seen, dark rain clouds all over the sky.

So, where did i go last nite till 3am? FOR THE GAME OF THE YEAR OF COURSE!!! MANCHASTER UNITED vs LIVERPOOL!!! GOD! all my effort of booking a place from 7pm-2am was worth it! Why all the trouble to Desa Sri Hartamas' SOULED OUT cafe, when i can watch at home on the sofa? cos lots of these football fanatics and this Football Crazy presenter (Sheikh Haikel) was there to boost up the mood, it's the game of the 2 teams that never will be friends! And there was this big satallite dish and 1 van each from TV3 and CELCOM parked outside, broadcasting us live on TV.

If u were watching the game, i think u would have seen us LIVE, with this very huge plum guy(Sheikh Haikel), did u? Well, that's us in the background hahahha! Not to forget, the main reason of going to hartamas was to get the goodie bag from ESPN. They were giving out goodie bags to the 1st 300 who were there. AND I GOT 1! hahhaha

Before the game started at 12 midnight, chelsea was playing charlton. And something weird happened. ManU and Liverpool fans got together and supported Charlton, not wanting Chelsea to win the game hahahaha! But the second right after the clock struck 12, u could see the rival look on our face - The Devils & The Reds!

1st half was kinda cool and calm, one or two attacks from both side, it was boring in fact, something that both team's fans were expecting more of it. Everyone sat in the chair quietly, had the eyes glued to the big screen, sipping some water slowlyyyyyyyyyy so that they dun finish it so soon (which then the waitress can't chase them away).

Then came 2nd half, fuhhhhhh the heat started to build up, once awhile ppl start jumping up from their chair when the ball gets near to the penalty box, but always with a 'aiyoooooooooo' and 'smack on the forehead' in the end. No goals!

Everyone was kinda dissapointed by the time it reached the 90th minute, only left with few minutes of injury time. Suddenly, a chance of free kick came, Giggs took the kick. Ferdinand jumped and gave a header, GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! *SCREAM LIKE MAD, JUMP UP FROM THE CHAIR, PPL HUGGING EACH OTHER, PUNCHING THE FIST INTO THE AIR LIKE A MAD COW, PUTTING ON SOME VERY VERY WEIRD FACE EXPRESSION....

Rio Ferdinand is mobbed after grabbing the late winner over Liverpool

The screaming went on for at least a 30 seconds. Even during playback, we screamed again, but slightly softer haahahaha, cos no voice d. ManU 1-0 Liverpool! This is a very memorable day.

Before the game started, Liverpool fans were loud. During the game, Liverpool fans were loud. During half time break, Liverpool fans were loud. But after the game, Liverpool fans went quiet. hahahhaha! u could see the dissapointment in their face, seriously! But yea, i understand that feeling of loosing. Well, it was far more humiliating when ManU lost to ManC the week before (forget bout it, sigh).

This morning, when i was out to service the car, i wore on my ManU jersey. Proud! Even at the workshop, the mechanic, who is also a ManU fan, was happy that i wore the red jersey, he was chatting away bout the game with me through out the service. I wanted to stop talking to him, so that he doesn't forget to put back any bolts or nuts, but he can't stop! hahahhah! January 23rd (123, easy to remember), i will not forget this day!

Guys, especially Liverpool fans, dun get all heated up alright? No hard feelings! It's a game. Got lose, got win. Anyhow, Liverpool never walks alone, am i right? Cheers!

Ex-AirForce Guys

Wasn't able to go online for the past week as i was back in hostel. The new semester has started this week, and today i'm home, out from the blardy torturous jail, sitting in a comfortable place i call home.

It was a week of ups and downs. Ups were during classes, and downs were after classes. Let's go for the ups first. I have very good lecturers this semester, having 4 different lecturers teaching 4 subjects namely:

1. Turbine Starting
2. Turbine Fuel & Metering
3. Turbine Overhaul
4. Turbine Lubrication

Out of 4 of them, 3 are ex-AirForce guys, and 1 is a lady (ex-MAS mechanic). In the aviation education world, u will not see professional License Aircraft Engineers (LAE) giving lectures, well even though there are, they r the minority; but alot of ex-AirForce ppl giving lectures. Why? Because LAEs have way higher salary in Airlines companies (MAS, SIA...), so why go for lecturing when the salary is way lower?

As for AirForce guys, we all know, they are paid very low, rite? So, lecturing is like a very good job promotion to them, and in my institute, 80% of the lecturers are from the AirForce. So, are AirForce planes or fighter jets related to civilian planes? Well, not very to be frank, the basics are the same, but most of the system are different. Fighter jets are built to shoot and to be shot down, civilian planes are built to earn money and definitely not to be shot down haha!

From the sentence that i just said, i shall summarise that our contry's fighter jets are poorly maintained, because there's no point maintaining it, as it's gonna be shot down 1 day haha! and fighter planes' equipments and parts are much more expensive compared to civilian plane. For example, a low category fighter plane can cost the same as a Boeing 737. The fighter plane sits a maximum of 2, and the Boeing 737 sits 144. U get wat i mean?

F-14. Does this look familiar? remember this scene in TopGun? where Tom Cruise showed the international sign language and snapped a pic?

We learn alot from these AirForce guys, really. It's very fun and interesting to listen to these ppl talk about their experiences. Even though i'm from MAS, and we have got nothing to do with war or jet planes, but u know, they are the AirForce guys, flying at speed of sound(Mach1) or maybe Mach2 (pronounce it as mother=emak's MAK), servicing some high-tech planes, it definitely attracts anyone! And we will be like standard 1 kids listening to Gandalf tell stories, once awhile hearing 'wahhhh' 'ohhhhhh' and 'ah!' lol! funny...

Truthfully, nearly every year, 1 Malaysian fighter jet will crash. If the pilot is lucky, God Bless Him! if not, Rest In Peace. Why are there so many crashes? As i just said, they are poorly maintained. They rather fly the plane even though it is due for maintenance. But we can't blame them u see, the cost is indeed very high, most of the parts are in USD, in addition to our poor AirForce, it's a big burden to them.

A row of F-18.

Malaysian fighter pilots call most of the old fighter jets "The Flying Coffin"! hahahha... I was laughing away when i heard this. It's like, if u get in that jet, u are queueing up for a death, get it? hahaha! What a waste ya, all these well built, good looking AirForce pilots in sunglasses sitting in a flying coffin? lol!

Every 20 minutes or so going through the text book, we get bored, we get sleepy, and these AF lecturers know us well. He'll turn off the OHP, we will close our books, and our eyes become as big as 50 cents coin, putting 2 ears on alert, waiting for stories from the military! haha!

During these story telling sessions, our class would be like military training u know? The AF lecturer would hold a marker pen in his hand and start off drawing an airfield (airport), then comes some strategy planning, asking us how to combat on-coming jets. He'll draw a '0' for our jets, and 'X' for intruders. Next, he'll teach us to take off the planes from which direction of the runway, depending on the direction of the on-coming intruder.

B2 Bomber. It comes without a vertical tail, and it's stealth!

The best way to take off is to lift off the ground as short as possible, and turn on the after-burner (some turbo super-duper power thing), shoot 90 degrees into the sky and start the chase, pretty thrilling i should say. In the sky, if there's a dog behind u (not the 4-legged dog ok?), there are ways to counter too like pulling the airbrake (handbrake for cars) to slow down the plane in an instant, letting the dog overshoot u, then put on the super-duper afterburner and chase. For your info, we are not talking about 110km/h like cars, but 900-1500km/h, so imagine the G-force acting on your body.

Sukhoi

As for the Sukhoi planes(Russian), which Malaysia have, if there's a plane locked on u, and a air-to-air missle is launched on u, no worries! Just pull down the black screen on your helmet and a computer screen will appear inside the helmet, showing some grid and cross-heir in the middle. Can u imagine the situation? So what u need to do, is to guide the missle into a red round spot on the screen and press a button. Walaa, the missle will divert away, amazing huh? These are called super high-tech gadgets. I can't reveal that much info to u as my lecturer revealed to us, cos it's kinda confidential, sorry guys!

All these stuff sounds really fun in the sky, but once they land and engineers take over, engineers will be having a hard time. From all the high gravity manouvers, doing sharp U-turns, flying at X2 speed of sound, the body of the aircraft goes through a lot of stress. If u have a magnifying glass in hand, u will notice alot of hair-line cracks on the wings, no kidding. Just from 1 dog fight in the sky, there will be cracks all around the wings, especially the point where it comes in contact with the fuselage (body).

Man, there's just too many stories to tell and share here. If possible, i'll talk nonstop in person! Haha, now i'm all excited, and i forgotten all about the downs of the week. Nvm, forget bout the downs! Enjoy the weekend and start cleaning your house for Chinese New Year! :P

Diving

My bro is back, from Vietnam. He has grown thin! How come! Vietnam not feeding him well? It's only been 4 months since he left.

But in less than 24 hours after reaching Malaysia, he's now on a flight to Cebu, Phillipines. Come back = never come back. Duh! He made me sleep deprieve for sending him to KLIA at 6 a.m. Being not able to get back to sleep, my panda eyes are looking at the monitor, wondering what to write because my brain is not really functioning.

Purpose of going Cebu: DIVING! He left me at home, i wanna go! Since i graduated from SCUBA till today, which was around June of 2005, i have not went for any dives. I can't really remember how to dive to be frank, all the equipment names and installation stuff are forgotten! I think i need to go for a dive soon to brush up my skills. Any divers around? Come, let's go diving...

For u who have not learn diving, let me tell u, it's fun! It's a total different world down there (of course), and it's really beautiful. Lots of Nemo, lots of Dory, lots of soft soft anemonies, and no great white shark in Malaysian waters. So it's pretty safe diving in Malaysia, in fact, the Malaysian sharks are very shy (they swim away upon seeing u).

What do they teach during the course? Everything u need to know in order to dive. That includes safety, all the equipments' name, what's the use of each component, how to communicate under water (hand signal), what to do during emergency.... many many things. Everything done during the course of 4d3n, which includes theory and exams. Oh, the most important question? How much? Currently, it's RM800. Not including lodging and food. Might increase if diesel price increases? Oh ya, 2nd most important question - i can't swim, how to dive!? It's not true... i have 2 diver friends who can't swim. u dun need to know how to swim, just kick your legs and the flippers will do the job, easy. Futhermore, u won't drown, the tank on your back is for breathing, dun worry.

U can do it in many places around Malaysia like: Perhentian(i did it here), Redang, Lang Tengah, Langkawi, Tioman, K.Kinabalu.... too many to mention. So, once u have graduated, tell me! Then we shall plan a budget trip and go diving alright?

Again, my house is updated with things throughout the world, mainly woodcraft. Here are the things brought home from Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi yesterday.

- Shouldn't the hat be cone type with a sharp tip, like the ones used in Padi field?
- Dunno when i have the chance to wear it. Maybe during my ride on my 'Old Metal Horse'??? hahaha (direct translation from Mandarin) It's still a horse! and horse riders wear cowboy hat!

- Very vietnam look.
- That's the hat i was talking about.
- A small log carved into this, very nice furnishing.
- They should used this to substitute the Grammy Awards!

- Very cute!
- Knowing that my mum loves fridge magnets, here goes 5 vietnamese girls.

- It's flexible/able to bend, compared to the rigid Vietnamese girls

Bathroom Lizard

We call it 'Biak Sa' in Hakka (direct translation from wall snake). Again, I caught a BiakSa, bout 5 minutes ago and i cant resist blogging about it. I think I should seriously consider changing my nick name to kampung lizard! lol! I'm sure u remembered my previous lizard catching post. Now, i've a bigger catch, a more beautiful catch, a catch that made me sweat like a pig minutes before i wanted to brush my teeth and sleep. I present to you... *playing the welcoming music.... chiang chiang chiang chiang chiang!!!

Lizardoooooooooo

hohohohoho... this 4 sucker foot reptile caused me sleep deprivation and sticky body, moments before i plan to be a good boy and sleep earlier. Now, i'm so alert, and i don't know what to do with it. It's just 15cm away from the keyboard, wrapped in a transparent plastic bag.

hm... i hope i won't spoil my own reputation, scaring girls away and having nicknames like lizard-man or lizard-jong. That's no good. I should be proud of myself, being the lizard buster! Well trusted in Kajang and Sepang, some say in KLIA. (does KLIA have lizards? help me pay attention to the ceiling when u r there)

It all happened in the bathroom, i don't know how on earth it got into the bathroom. It was hiding behind this multi-tier platform where we put the bottles oh shampoo and stuff. Having sighting that brown long thing with black spots on the back, quickly i grab hold of a rag. With 1 hand moving the platform away, i prepared my strike on the other hand.

WHOOOOOPPPPPPPP! i covered the rag over the lizard which was then on the wall. Got'cha! Then, i push up the side of the piece of rag, revealing the lizard, planning on how to approach it and pick it up. Suddenly, it slipped through the rag! it fell on to the ground, PIAK!

I threw the rag hard on it on the bathroom tiles while accidentally kicking some basins and buckets, making it sound like wrestling with an aligator in the bathroom. It was under the rag now. Again, i pull up the sides of the rag and revealed the lizard. Without hesitation, my thumb and 1st finger went straight towards it and pinch its body, followed by pulling up from the floor.

Let me go into details. As u pull the lizard up from the floor, or away from the wall, its sucker feet will try its best to suck on the surface. Thus, normally after pinching the lizard in between your fingers, use a lil force to pull the sucker feet away. From my experience, the body can lift up about 1cm from the surface, then the sucker feet will give way and POP! hahahhaahha..... gross!

Wanna tickle it? See that black dot on the left? I hope it's not the lizard shit, resulting from me pressing on the tummy. Eeeewwwwwww.....

Even though i sound brave, being able to put them in my hands like a pet, to tell u the truth, i hate it alot when the tail falls off! It's very geli ya know? It gives u that 1 second shiver and makes u close your eyes slightly with a frown on the forehead. I hate it alot! So the skill behind lizard catching is to not touch the tail. It will only fall off if u touch or put pressure on the tail. Urgh, now i can't stop thinking of that cacing tail, geli!

Anyway, since this lizard is a different than normal one, i gave it a nicer plastic bag. A transparent one, which food stalls use it to tapao food/drinks hahaha! Something happened while i tried to put it into the plastic bag. It slipped through my fingers and drop on to the floor, and started running! Within a blink of an eye, i chased after it and put my hand over it, forming a hollow in the hand. Got'cha. I wonder where i found the courage to do such things. Previously, i was really scared of lizards, just like how girls fear the flying cockroaches.

Picked it up again, carefully avoiding the tail, i put it into the plastic bag, and immediately sealed the inlet with a rubber band (exactly like a packet drink). Snap some pics for u to see and here i am blogging at 2am in the morning. I want to sleep! Catch the previous lizard here.

p/s: what should i do with the lizard in the packet? suggestions? Best suggestion wins that RM5 beside the lizard hahahha joking!

Aircraft / Airport Pictures

Went for the meeting with the police and the other driver earlier on, after discussing, police told me and my parents to go home 1st, leaving the other driver and him back. So, i dunno what's gonna happen next. I guess i'll just wait for a letter to be sent to me. Might be a saman, might be a court letter... i dunno. The moral of the story is : Try not to get involved in an accident, it is very mafan and the effect is long term. Thus, i'll be a better driver than before from now onwards, and do hope all of u too be better drivers k? Please drive safe. (with the rainy season now, please pay extra causion)

I guess only aircrafts can cheer me up. haha! well, that might change if i had a gf. But i dun have one, sad case. So, so be the aircrafts! Browsing through the net, looking at aircrafts or airports or reading forums bout aircrafts makes me feel better. It diverts my stress and puts a smile on my face, making me admire at the pics of the oh-so-gorgeous big metal bird. I'm sure each one of u have different ways of cheering up/de-stress yourself, as for me, just bring me to KLIA and u'll make my day :)

- Fortunately, here in KLIA, there's no jam, because no1 wants to fly into Malaysia.

- Very famous airport, for being beside the beach.
- Lots of bikini girls lying under sun, waiting for the plane to fly above them
- I wonder whether the pilots get distracted? Damn.
- I think KLIA should be relocated to Port Dickson, yea? Can i see a raise of hands?

- Cars have car junk. Planes have plane junk too.
- Here's where old/unwanted planes are kept.
- It's either waiting for 2nd hand buyers, or torn down to make aircraft material beer cans! lol! Definitely a collector's must.
- Btw, there are 24 planes here. All Boeing 747.
- Dun u think it's such a pity? such beautiful planes. I suggest to make it into a housing estate, each house means 1 plane. Dun play play, it's a bunglow lot.

- Why such big words? so that pilots feel secure that they are landing at the right country!

- It looks majestic. Having its wings spreaded and the 4 engines blowing up all the moisture from the runway after a rain fall, blurring the whole background. Imagine how strong those engines are, lifting off 200-300tonnes of mass.

I'm trying to find the tv series - LAX. Heard bout it? 8TV plays it. It's very nice, trust me. It's about the daily life of the Los Angeles International Airport. If not mistaken, it's the busiest airport in the world. Does sg wang sells it? Cos i can't seem to get it with my streamyx (if u get what i mean haha). Anyone has it?

"I'm bored, bring me out please?"
"I want to go to school too, i'm so bored."
"I'm boreddddddddddddddddd... how many 'd' did i type? 17?"

These are the words that always appear in my MSN name status. But, from this very day onwards, it would not appear anymore and I shall not complain that i'm bored anymore during my holidays. Why? Because, i think God heard me and thus gave me lots of things to do now, making feel so busy. What am i so busy about? It all started yesterday night...

...I was driving in my car, with a female friend (old school-mate). It was raining heavily, we were on our way to meet up another friend. It was on the PLUS Highway that i was driving on. A car was behind me on the outer fast lane, seeing him behind, i decided to overtake 1 more car on the middle lane, so that i can let the car behind me overtake me. During overtaking of the middle lane car, which was under a bridge, there was a big puddle of water, my wheels went over it, i held real tight on the steering wheel, knowing that the car will definitely ski abit. Nearly bang the divider on my right hand side, but manage to get the car back into control, SUDDENLY i was bang from behind! Sigh... accident.

Weird thing is, even though i was bang from behind, my engine shut down, and it couldn't be restarted at all, was considered dead (later, mechanic said the timing belt broke). So, there i was, on the outer fast lane, sitting in the car, at a cornering, where cars few hundred meters away wouldn't notice the accident. i was in great danger. And my words were true, a kelisa soon bang into the wira that bang me. Great, now 3 cars are involved. Sigh... accident

The Plus Unit Peronda ppl came, put up some orange cones and diverted fast oncoming cars to the middle and inner lane. It's really scary standing in between the divider. Then, they pulled all 3 cars to the emergency land. And me and my friend had to risk our life running over 3 huge lanes. Unforgettable experience.

Made a police report this morning, but have to meet up again with the sarjan and the 2 other drivers this saturday night to investigate. I just hope everything will be fine, and get everything settled a.s.a.p. The post-accident effect is torturous, hate that feeling.

After making the police report, me and Mr. C (the fren who is very kind to fetch me around) went for breakfast, it was my treat to him. Having so many things to talk about, we forgotten to put up the 50 cent parking ticket. So, we came back to the car to see a very colorful paper clip under the windscreen wiper. Looking at the time the ticket was issued, it was just 9 minutes ago, while we already had breakfast for the past 40 minutes. IT'S JUST SO NOT MY DAY. DAMN.

Since we were already in town, we decided to pay the fine. It is the 1st time in my life being such a good citizen, paying a fine 20 minutes after being fined. *shakes head. Anyway, Mr. C volunteered to pay the fine (thanx). It had to be settled a.s.a.p because the fine will increase after 14 days of delay. WHAT A SHIT DAY.

The Black Star is shining bright on me i guess. I'm unlucky. Before i forget, i would want to sincerely apologise to my friend who was with me. Sorry for giving u such trouble, shock, and trauma. I guess i won't be able to chauffeur u around, cos most prob your parents have banned me from doing so. SIGH.

Feel so lifeless now. Can i have some words of encouragement? A pat on the shoulder? A hug? Anything... I feel real shit now.

Year New Happy

haha! u gotta be different from the others, dun follow the crowd! Read it backwards k? Ah... while u guys are spending the night out, having 2 mins more to the end of the year, i'm here typing, listening to music with headphones on, and watching fireworks on tv! haha! Why am i not out? 1st no companion, 2nd i hate the jam, 3rd home is the best.

Just came back from a wedding dinner. A very good day to get married i presume? Cos whenever your anniversary comes, u get to see so much fireworks, am i right!? It was a fun dinner. Since the dinner ended at about 1030pm, we brought forward the New Year countdown 1.5 hours, and everyone yelled really loud! 10, 9, 8, ...3,2,1 *clap clap clap *wuuuhooooooo!

Tonite's bridal car is one special one. 1st time ever seeing 1. Very creative i should say. It's a VolksWagon Beatle! A black one. So chun! Too bad i didn't bring along my camera, so i have to get a pic from the net instead. As i said u gotta be different from the crowd, with the usual custom of the weds being chauffeured, why not drive a 2 door car yourself as a groom? Wouldn't it be so chun? *dreaming... i wonder when would my day come lol!

Kajang is like a battle field now. Bomb here Bomb there (firecrackers). I guess it's just the starting? When CNY comes, OMG... WW3! let me leak out some illegal stuff to u. I have 3x8foot long red crackers, leftover from last year! wahahahahha! Please dun call the police wil ya?

Have guest in my house now, they are staying over night after the dinner. Singaporeans, with 3 youngsters around my age(21+-1). I dunno how to entertain them! From the moment they step in the house till now, we only said Hi! That's all. Sigh... they are hiding in the room now. I wanna be friendly as the host of the house, but they seem to be avoiding from coming out from the room. Singaporeans?

Hm...singapore, such a developed country. Me as a malaysian, how should i entertain them? Should i bring them to the longkang and see longkang fish? erm... go behind my house, show them chickens and ducks? or should i bring them to 7-11 and buy a whole box of chewing gum to exercise their jaws? lol! So what does everyone say bout our neighbour? they are the 3K rite? Kiasu, Kiasi, Kiabo! hahahha...

Why am i laughing at ppl! i'm so bad. Obviously singapore's economy is so much stronger than our country's, and they have so much more civilised citizens, rite? Then, the aviation industry - SIA & MAS. I guess MAS is no competition to them, everyone says SIA is much better than MAS, so i presume so. Thoughts of changing to SIA one day might be too early, as i'm bonded for 10 years. So... who knows, 10 years later MAS might be better than SIA? or will it not happen? hahha...

Singaporeans are coming out of the island for holidays, and we malaysians are happily entering the island instead, why? I think we are both bored of our lifestyle, and want something different from what we have daily, humans are never satisfied with what they have ya? Ya, like me, i'm not satisfied that the singaporeans dun bring me to their longkang and see their longkang fish when i visit them!!!
